Mitchell, 64, underwent more than three hours of surgery Tuesday for repair of an artery in his abdomen. Dr. Charles Hufnagel, chairman of the Department of Surgery at Georgetown University Hospital who performed the operation, said Mitchell came out of it in good condition. He was furloughed from the prison camp at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama for a surgery on his arthritic right hip.
