TV 1 2c ST. PETERSBURG TIMES THURSDAY. OCTOBER 18. 1976 Birogltot to Semonqlles' lineup. Saturday Compiled from AP, UP! wires Florida State halfback Leon Bright, though not practicing all week, will play in Saturday's 18th renewal of the FSU-Florida intrastate rivalry at Gainesville.

Injured against Virginia Tech last Saturday, Bright has been nursing a shoulder injury while he has watched practice from the sidelines. Head Coach Darrell Mudra said Wednesday, "It's an up- Eer body injury, so he can still run. He'll definitely running against the Gators." Only two days earlier, the FSU staff announced that Bright was an "extremely doubtful" perform-er. MUDRA ALSO indicated Bright's effectiveness on certain plays would be somewhat limited, but expected Bright to be near 100 per cent otherwise. With the team's leading rusher on the sidelines, wingback Larry Key has seen extra action this week in practice.

Seminole coaches have been disappointed thus far with Key's performance in previous games. Mudra, in part, blames himself, "In our first two games, Larry scored a touchdown in each," Mudra said. "Since them, we haven't done a good job in getting the ball to him. But since he's seen so much work this week, well, you tend to do in a game what you've done in prac-tic6 thfit week' Quarterback Clyde Walker will start for FSU, giving the Gators four different signal callers to defense in the last four games against the Seminoles. "THEIR DEFENSE HAS done a lot of stunting and gambling this year," Mudra related.

"It will be up to Clyde to pick it up and call some audibles." FSU's starting fullback will either be junior Fred Miller or freshman Gator Cherry. Miller started the first four games, while Cherry took over last week. "We probably could have won the game against VPI last week if we had Fred in there," Mudra said during FSU's Wednesday practice. "But we think Gator is an exceptional prospect and we needed to play him. He made some freshman mistakes." Defensively, the Seminoles will have no changes.

If last week was any indication, three Gainesville natives should play important roles against Florida. LINEBACKER Aaron Carter, FSU's best defender all season; noseguard Jon Thames and safety Joe Camps all hail from the town which the Gators call home. Carter was in on 23 tackles last week, while Thames graded out with his highest performance of the season. i The defense will have a great challenge in the Gators, who are No. 1 in the nation in total offense after racking up nearly 600 yards last week in a 35-0 win over Vanderbilt.

One of the leaders in the offense is fullback Jimmy DuBose, who has shown remarkable improvement this year and last week gained 180 yards, including an 80-yard touchdown run on the first play of the game. OFFENSIVE tackle Mike Williams attempted to answer the question of why DuBose is running so much better than last year. "Last summer," said Williams, "Jimmy and I went to Brooks Johnson, a new track assistant coach, and he taught us how to run. It really improved both of us in speed. Jimmy is probably down now from 4.7 to 4.6.

1 believe that has improved him more than anything else." Williams, a regular for the third consecutive season, ranks this year's offense better over all than last year's, but he doesn't yet give the offensive line an edge oyer last year's line. will run t- -h LtUN onlurl I I i SCORES STANDINGS EVENTS TRANSACTIONS RESULTS SCHEDULES (7QDIT GDaCl TCSEQDITll BALTIMORE ORIOLES A plan to I ELEVENTH RACE-S-16 MM, Grade C-AprlFancyU) 23.40 IN 7.60 Meeln Cutle(5) 1140 15.00 SmOlnLlid) 4.40 Qulnlela (2-5) 124.00. 1 1 nave ma Orioles play it games of their 174 season Washington's RKF StaoV um has been refected by Comrnltiloner oowieKuntv aya oaiuny gi4uauiuii AT APOLLO BEACH Aoat f-ra-11 1.
