SQUEALER "FRESH" FEED FAQS ty DALE THORNGREN Nutritionist SQUEALIR Pf 10 HARLAN, IOWA, Stff "One of the troubles with small talk is that it usually comes in Hot small seems to come in large doset. Livestock death losses from the heat run high but the loss from deaths is smalt compared to the weight toss, poor feed consersion and production drops that are the result of extreme heat. In dealing with the heat we must keep in mind that effect- iue cooling is accomplished by evaporation, a bucket of cold water will cool a sow or fat temporarily, the same bucket otv water, allowed to evaporate from a mist spray, can Eive a much more effective A fine spray of water evaporating on the roof of the laying can make a hen reasonably comfortable on a hot ilay. In wetting down our finishing hogs, hog houses, and feeding floors, we must also keep in mind that the animals need a dry place io bed.

Only a part of the house or floor should be kept damp. In short, animals respond to cooling methods much like we lu considering what measures to use to combat the heat, consider how you and 1 would react to the same treatment. And when feed consumption drops because of heat, it is especially important that the ration be liighly nutritious. Use Squealer "Fresh" Feeds.
