"The Defiant Ones," now playing at the riayhouse Theatre is certainly one of the best pictures of the season. Here, superb direction and production, somewhat of the Italian neo-realism school, brings out the rrost of a story that is intensely dramatic to begin with. Two convicts, a white man (Tony Curtis) and a Negro (Sidney Poitier) chained together, escape from a Southern road gang. They make their desperate dash for freedom through swamps and a small settlement, pursued' by the state police and by the sheriff with his posse and dogs. The torture of panic, exhaustion, man-handling by a lynch-minded mob, seems doubled because of the deep-rooted hatred between them.

And eacn twist in a role different from anything intended to become one of the greatest singers of her time. This seemed a remarkable forecast, for in 1950 her appearance on the European scene created a sensation. She became the first American in history to win Geneva's THEATRE CENTRAL AT 9th HHP OVER HQ WEEK EXCLUSIVE fllST SHOWINO FROM HERE TO ETERNITY WINNER or ACADEMY AWARDS with Burt Lancaster Montgomery Cllft Deborah Kirr frank Sinatra FORTHEPERfECT 201 Beach Dr. NE will exhibit famous International Concours de Musique. the work of Herbert Tulk, of Hollywood, and Franconia, he has ever played.
