Pineapple Bavarian Cream One tablespoon plain gelatin, ^ cup cold water, ] ,4 cup hot water. 2-3 cup (!i 15-ounce can) sweetened condensed milk, 2 tablespoons lemon juice, ! a teaspoon grated lemon rind, 1 cup canned pineapple juice, 54 cup heavy cream. Soften gelatin in cold water 5 minutes. Add hot water. Stir until gelatin is dissolved. Add sweetened condensed milk, lemon juice, lemon rind, and pineapple juice. Stir until well blended. Place bowi in pan it ice water. Stir until mixture begins to thicken. Whip cream and fold Into gelatin mixture. Pour Into mold which has been rinsed In cold water. Chill. When set. unmold and serve with custard sauce, crushed pineapple or berries. This variation on prune whip is good, too. Prune Wlilp One (15-ounce) can sweetened milk. Vt cup lemon Juice, I 1-3 cups (1-pound package) cooked prunes, pitted. 2 egg whites. Pour sweetned condensed milk »nd lemon juice into milting bowl; «tlr until mixture thickens. Add prunes; beat with electric mixer or rotary beater until well blended. Beat egg whites until stiff but not dry. Fold egg whites Into pr f :: mixture. Pour into Individual serving dishes. Chill. Crumb Cake For a Good Dessert Ingredients: 2 cups sifted flour, 11 cup sugar, l / 2 teaspoon salt, l\'.\ teaspoons nutmeg, 1 ',-4 teaspoons cinnamon, '^ teaspoon cloves, \'z cup butter or margarine, 1 egg (lightly beaten), 2 tablespoons molasses, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1 cup buttermilk. Method: Sift together the flour, sugar, salt, nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves. Cut in butter until fat particles disappear. Reserve half of this mixture. Add the lightly beaten egg and molasses to the other half. Dissolve baking soda In buttermilk and add. Mix well. Turn into greased and floured baking pan (8 by 8 by 2 inches): sprinkle reserved crumbs i over batter. Bake in moderate (350 j degrees) oven about 35 minutes or j until cake tester inserted in center comes out clenn. Cool cake in pan; cut In squares and remove with spatula.
