intrepenbettt SUNDAY, MAY 1, 1960 LET'S SEE NOW- 9 P.M., Daring, Thrilling, 'Aquarodeo' on Ch. 4 Millie Simpson TV Editor FAITH OF OUR CHILDREN. 11 a.m., Ch. 4 (color). Miss Gloria McMillan, TV actress best-known as Connie in the popular "Miss Brooks" series, is hostess.

Her topic is "Followers Are Not Easily Discouraged." Miss Heather North of Pasadena appears as soloist. She has appeared quite regularly on the program for the past three years, recently was off as she was in a play at the Town Hall. Heather has also been seen on TV, with Westinghouse commercials, she is a very busy 14-year-old young lady with school, drama, and as soloist on this morning special for children. TV WORKSHOP, 12 noon, Ch. 2.

"Afterthought," a play without actors, and "Mandy," a tender story of a summer romance, concludes the first season on the experimental "CBS Television Workshop." CALIFORNIA REPORT, 1:30 p.m., Ch. 4. Today's subject: "The steps that are being taken to crack down on who, through unethical and illegal trade practices, victimize the public." Guests: Earl Kintner, chairman of the Federal Trade Commission, and two officials from the Better Business Bureau of L.A., John Vaughn and Robert Bauer. LOYALTY DAY PARADE, 4 p.m., Ch. 11.

This is a delayed telecast of the fifth annual parade. Brig. Gen. John T. Honeycutt, Commanding.

Ft. Arthur, Air Defense Command, is Grand Marshal. Miss Julia Riding is "Miss Loyally Day," and is accompanied by five attractive princesses representing the various branches of the services. There are marching bands, military units, motorcycle and equestrian units, and precision drill teams. Bill Welsh describes the colorful annual event.

MEET THE RESS, 6 p.m., Ch. 4. Senator Wayne Morse Ore.) is interviewed by the panel. TWENTIETH CENTURY, 6:30 p.m., Ch. 2.

Walter Cronkite narrates "Reaching for the Moon," the story of man's efforts to learn more about that celestial body. Interviewed about man's chances of getting to the moon are the scientists Dr. Harold C. Urey, of UC; Dr. Robert Jastrow of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration; and Prof.

Gorden MacDonald of UCLA. READING OUT LOUD, 6:30 p.m., Ch. 31. Actress Eva Le Gallienne brings her own special rnagic to storytelling as she reads "The Ugly Duckling," by Hans Christian Andersen. ED SULLIVAN, 8 p.m., Ch.

2. Guests: Charlton Heston; Rickie Layne and Velvel; Pinky Lee; Johnny Horton; Dean Jones. FRANCES LANGFORD SHOW, 8 p.m., Ch. 4 (color- special). As star of tonight's special musical review Frances introduces her guests, Bob Cummings; Johnny Mathis; The Three Stooges; Don Ameche; Mary Costa; Herlnione Gingold; featured is the Motion Picture Mothers Club of Hollywood, whose members are the mothers of famous motion picture personalities.

Ray Heindorf and his orchestra, the Hermes Pan Dancers, the Jud Conlon Singers and Jack "Mr. Bongo" Costanza also are featured. G.E. THEATER, 9 p.m., Ch. 2.

Oscar Homolka stars in "Ugly Duckling," based on the fairy tale of A. A. Milne. As a merry monarch of medieval times he (Oscar) despairs of marrying off his unattractive daughter (Joanna Barnes) and schemes with solicitous chancelor (Richard Haydn) to entrap unwary eligible prince with pretty lady- in-waiting, (Joyce Jameson) posing as princess. Marital mix-up ensues when the prince, also unattractive, uses handsome manservant to masquerade as himself.

Others in the cast are Robert Casper as Prince Simon; Linda Watkins as the Queen; William Allyn as Carlo. CHEVY SHOW. 9 p.m., Ch. 4. "Aquarodeo" from Marineland on the pacific with Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, who introduce expert skindivers competing underwater 'in rodeo-type events, as they pit their skill against "wily denizens of the deep" in their own domain.

Viewers will see the daredevil divers jump into the water to rope, wrestle, bull-dog and hogtic sharks, bat rays and giant turtles. Whales bigger than fire engines will jump high out of the water. Dolphins and porpoises orbit from the tank with great bursts of power. There are' brightly-hued fish from Hawaiian nnd Mexican waters, all of the great sea circus show from Marineland, including the clown "Penny" the penguin, who roller skates. JACK BENNY, 10 p.m., Ch.

2. Jack tries to tell of his --PULLOUT-Complete Television Logs Beautiful Mary Costa Mary Costa, operatic star, who has won thunderous applause from critics for her with the San Francisco Opera Company and concerts, sings Sunday on "The Frances Longford Show," 8 p. Ch. 4. recent tour of the Far East but Don Wilson, Dennis Day and Joyce Davidson won't listen to him.

MEDAL BALL, 10:30 p.m.,.Ch. 5. The 30th annual Arthur Murray Medal Ball features Nanette Fabray and Pamela Mason in special dances. Host Gordon Ayres introduces the guests and presents achievement medals to the students. Manny Harmon's orchestra provides the music.

RADIO: KPPC (1240), French composer, Jean Berger, whose song cycle will have its world premiere by Nan Merriman on the Coleman Concerts is interviewed at 2 p.m.; 8:30 p.m., the "Pasadena High School Corner" with hosts Bob Suffel and Greg Bowmon present a special Youth Day program. Guests include Vince Kelly, student coordinator, from PCC and a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce. KNX (1070), 12:05 p.m., "New York Philharmonic" under the baton of Leonard Bernstein opens at two-week series devoted to theatre music. Opening with excerpts from the Ballet Suite, "The Creatures of Prometheus," by Beethoven. 9:05 p.m., "Capitol Cloakroom," guest is Senator Frank Carlson 11:05 p.m., "The Cleveland Orchestra," under the direction of George Szell, concludes the third consecutive season of broadcast with compositions by Richard Wagner, Paul Hindcmith and Sergei Prokofieff.
