DUNE 10, 1900 SOUTH AMBOY The City Council will vote next Tuesday on a $974.000 five-year garbage bid from Meadowbrook Carting Co. Inc. of Morganville. The proposed contract would cost the city about $14,000 per year more than its current contract with Jersey Sanitation Co. of East Brunswick, which must surrender its trash-hauling permit as part of a plea bargain for pleading guilty to cons; iring to monopolize non-residential refuse collection.

The Meadowbrook bid was one of three obtained Monday by the city. James Petrozello Inc. of Kearney was the second-lowest bidder at S. Amboy $1.235,000, while Browning Ferris Industries of Elizabeth bid $1,268,000. Jersey Sanitation will complete its five-year contract at the end of the month.

considers The city's contract specifications gave garbage haulers the option to bid on four-day-per-week pick-up for businesses and to eliminate alley pick-up for residents, but South Amboy Mayor Thomas Cross predicted trash bid the council would probably award the bid to Meadowbrook for the same six-day pick-up for businesses and two-day alley pick-up for residents the city now receives. According to Business Administrator Nicholas Smolney, the cost differential between the current level of service and the reduced service was only about $6,000 per year. Meanwhile, Jersey Sanitation, which has also been involved with a rate dispute with the Global Land Reclaiming Corp. in Old Bridge, yesterday was ordered by the Board of Public Utilities to establish a $40,000 escrow account for unpaid fees to Global.
