October 23, 1985, The Newton Record-5A -DEATHS- Emmette James Mrs. Cecil Hayes Scott Sims James Services for Emmett James Scott Sims, 66, Chicago, were held recently. Rev. Allen and Mr. Love, Bartholomew Baptist Church, and Rev.

Gilmore, Mt. Olive Methodist Church, officiated. Sims, reared in Rose Hill, was a member of Mt. Olive Methodist Church. He served in the U.S.

Army for 4 years, then moved to Chicago, Ill. and attended Radio and Television school. He united with St. Mark Methodist Church and taught Sunday Bible Class. Sims, officiated with the N.A.A.C.P., the American Moslem Community, the Thirty Fourth and Forty Seventh Street Communities, died October 9.

Survivors include, one daughter, Linda D. Sims; three sisters, Mary Ella Gaddis, Castoria Welch and Ann Deavers, all of Chicago, Ill; two brothers, Roosevelt Sims, Detroit, Albert L. Sims, Chicago, a host of nieces and nephews. The obituary was given by Salina Williams of Mt. Olive Methodist Church.

Pallbearers and flower girls were friends and family. Hattie Mae Smith Services for Hattie Mae Smith, 70, Meridian, were held October 15 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home, Union. The Rev. Randall Hisaw officiated.

Burial was in Mt. Olive Cemetery. Mrs. Smith, a nurses aid, was a member of Greater Meridian Baptist Church. She died October 13 in Anderson's Hospital, Meridian.

Survivors include, two sons, Randy Smith, Meridian; Marzine Smith, New Orleans, LA; one daughter, Lorene Herrington, Union; one sister, Minnie French, Decatur; two brothers, Edward Wilkes, Forest; Willis Wilkes, Louisville; 9 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Ollie Mae (Polly) Ward Mrs. Ollie Mae (Polly) Munn Burney Ward, 74, died unexpectedly, Wednesday, October 9, at her home in Ackerman. Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 10, in AdamsNowell Funeral Home Chapel, Ackerman, with burial in Enon Cemetery.

Mrs. Ward, a native of Newton and graduate of Newton High School, was a member of Ackerman Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Mrs. Emma Miley Land Munn of Newton. She is survived by her sons, Dick Burney, Jackson; and Dale Burney, Ridgeland; one brother, Louis Munn, Leland; and three grandchildren.

Zion Methodist Church. She died October 12 in Rush-Newton Hospital. Survivors include, one daughter, Mary Jo Denson, Newton; two sons, D.L. James, Cincinnati, Ohio; M. James, Memphis, TN; two sisters, Bess Hayes, Bay Springs; Lucille Usher, Chunky; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren.

Roy Dean McDill Services for Roy Dean McDill, 52, Decatur, were held October 21 at 10:30 a.m. in Conehatta Baptist Church. Burial was in Sulphur Springs Cemetery. Rev. Kenneth Leach officiated.

McDill, a dairy farmer, died October 19 in Rush-Newton Hospital. He was a member of Conehatta Baptist Church. Survivors include, his wife, Georgia McDill, Decatur; his mother, Flora McDill, Conehatta; three sons, Lane, Wayne and Randy McDill, all of Decatur; one daughter, Karla McDill, Decatur; three sisters, Mary Rainey, Paducah, KY; Dorothy Morrow, Conehatta; Sue James, Walnut Grove; two brothers, Kendal McDill, Lanthrop, MO; Donnie McDill, Walnut Grove; four grandchildren. Stephens Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mary Jackson Ferrell Services for Mary Jackson Ferrell, 66, were held October 18 at 2:00 p.m.

in Whitehead and Son Funeral Home Chapel, Bay Springs. Rev. Sam McDonald officiated. Burial was in Galilee Church Cemetery, Louin. Mrs.

Ferrell, a retired nurse, was a member of New Hope Church in Chicago, Ill. She died October 14 in Memphis, TN. Survivors include, her husband, Rev. Webster Ferrell, Taylorsville; one sister, Pauline Brown of Memphis; one God child, Sandra Niten of Chicago; a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were friends of the family.

Flower bearers were home mission and friends of the family. Willie Engram Services for Willie Engram, 44, Chicago, were held in Halsted Memorial Chapel in Chicago. Interment was in Blue Mountain Cemetery, Bay Springs, on October 19. Whitehead and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Engram attended Harris Elementary School and Wesley High in Meridian.

He 'moved to Chicago in 1959. He died October 11. Survivors include, one son, Craig Dell Engram, Chicago; father and step-mother, Litdell and Ruth Engram, Pascagoula; uncle and aunt, Guy and Susie McCurdy, Bay Springs; aunt, Wilma Duckworth, Baton Rouge, LA. Alton Charlie Graham Services for Alton Charlie Graham, 69, Conehatta, were held October 12 at 2:00 p.m. in White Plains Assembly of God.

Burial was in the church cemetery. Ray White and Rev. Will Connelly, Vyan, Okla. officiated. Graham, a farmer, died October 10 in Riley's Hospital, in Meridian.

Survivors include, his wife, Sarah Graham; his mother, Maggie Graham, both of Conehatta; six sons, Charlie, Wilton, Kenneth, Delbert, Tommie and Marcus Graham, all of Conchatta; three daughters, Dorothy Russell, Union; Gettis Tatum, Vivan, Karen Monk. Sebastopol; two brothers, Dow and Wilber Graham, both of Conehatta; three sisters, Mrs. Clevie Mowdy and Lottie Graham, both of Conehatta; Lynn Lang, Floyd, West, VA; 23 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren.
