EVELYN APGAR MICHAEL BENNETT AIDS claims 'Chorus Line's' Bennett at 44 Chicago Tribun Michael Bennett, 44, creator of the musical "A Chorus Line," died yesterday of an AIDS-related cancer in his home in Tucson. According to his lawyer, John Breglio, Bennett's death was caused by "lymphoma as related or caused by AIDS. He knew he had AIDS for some time," Bennett, who began dancing when he was 3, had not been active in the theater since early 1986, when he had to drop out of plans to direct the musical "Chess" in London. At the time, the reason given for his withdrawal was an attack of angina, but in January, 1986, he was diagnosed as having acquired immune deficiency syndrome. Last May, after Bennett had moved from New York for treatment at the Arizona Health Science Center, his personal secretary disclosed that the stricken director and choreographer was suffering from "a life-threatening disease." His death came when he had two shows running on Broadway "A Chorus Line." DOMINIK In South Amboy.

Correction An obituary printed in yesterday's paper for an infant identified as Curress Patrick, 2 months old, was apparently fictitious. Neither a Brooklyn funeral home identified as holding the services, nor a Piscataway cemetery identified as the burial site, are aware of the death, funeral or burial arrangements. Further, a Harris Funeral Home, identified as a new funeral home in New Brunswick currently based in Georgia and handling the arrangements, could not be located. A spokesman for the NJ. Division of Consumer Protection, which licenses funeral homes, said that no one named Harris hag applied for or received a license' to operate a funeral home in New Brunswick..
