12-A Statesville Record Landmark Monday, November 1, 1976 STATION DEDICATED Officials of contracting companies and the county governmental bodies were on I hand Sunday for the dedication of the South Iredell Solid Waste Transfer Station on NC 150, just east of 1-77 near Mooresville. (Keys Photo) Shive Serves As Conductor Choral Clinic Is Held At Church The 12th annual Choral Clinic Concert, sponsored by MacDowell Music Club, was held in two sessions Sunday at Race Street United Methodist Church. Rev. Donald F. George, pastor of the host church, led the invocation for the 4 p.m.

and 8 p.m. sessions. Gary L. Shive served as conductor for the event with James Orr as accompanist. Orr and Mrs.

Brown Kimball were co-chairmen. Offertory prayers were offered by Rev. Charles M. Zimmerman and Dr. Melton Harbin, with benedictions at the two sessions by Rev.

William W. Blanton and Rev. John M. 1. Watkins.

Selections included Orr's organ prelude of "My Inmost Heart Rejoices" by Brahms and "Fugue" by Gerald Near. Vocal selections were: All Ye Nations" by Schutz, "Laudate Jehovam, Omnes Gentes," by Telemann; "Let Nothing Ever Grieve Thee," Brahms; "Great and Glorious," Haydn; and "Old 100th Psalm Tune," with the congregation. Also "Psalm 100" by John Weaver, "'There Shall A Star Come Out of Jacob," by Felix Mendelssohn; "Baby of Bethlehem," Bert Carlson; "I Will Arize," arranged by Susan Byler; "All My Trials," arranged by Norman Luboff, "Jesus In the Morning," arranged by Walter Ehret, and "A Parting Blessing," by J. Jerome Williams. More than 100 vocalists from the area participated.

(BILL) McMILLAN for the North Carolina House of Representatives, 35th District Paid For By Bill McMillan Rites Set Tuesday WILSON Mrs. Mamie Grimsley Turnage, 79, of Black Creek died at 10 p.m. Sunday at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Wilson, following a lengthy illness. She was born Aug. 9, 1897, in Wilson, and was a daughter of the late Mr.

and Mrs. William Grimsley. Her husband, Willie Turnage, died in 1972. Mrs. Turnage was a member of Frank Price Presbyterian Church of Black Creek.

Surviving are seven daughters, Mrs. John Norman Wilson, of Wilson, Miss Ruth Turnage of the home, Mrs. Grace Edmundson of Fremont, and Mrs. Lillian T. Best, Mrs.

Ellen T. Pittman, Mrs. Ethel T. Hill and Mrs. Mary Ella Barnes, all of Wilson; five sons, Carson Turnage of Raleigh, and Leonard, Tom, W.

R. and J. H. Turnage, all of Wilson; 25 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m.

Tuesday at Shingleton Funeral Home in Wilson, with Dr. Dan Robertson officiating. Burial will be in Wilson's Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:30 to 9 p.m. today.

Memorials may be made to the building fund of Concord Presbyterian Church in Statesville. WILL PROBATED Will of Alfred W. Shaw has been probated and filed in the office of Carl G. Smith, clerk of court. The will, dated June 10, 1976, provides that all property go in fee simple to the widow, Mrs.

Anna Belle B. Shaw, and she was named executrix. A A MAGIC SHOW Part of the Statesville Merchants Association's show Saturday for Halloween was a performance by Middlesworth and magicians. Chris Benfield goes through his act. John Paul Middlesworth is the other part of the performance.

Bethel, Eastside and First Baptist; also Front Street, Rocky Hill, and Western Avenue Baptist; Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Troutman, St. John's Lutheran at Statesville, Broad Street, Boulevard, Clarksbury, Cool Springs, New Salem, Race Street, Shiloh, and Wesley Memorial Methodist Churches of Statesville. Also First United Methodist of Troutman and Harmony United Methodist, Concord, First, Forest Park, New Prospect and Oakland Presbyterian Churches, 'all of Statesville, as well as St. Peter's Anglican, St. Pius Catholic, Calvary Community, Trinity Episcopal, Belmont Church of Christ, First Church of Christ and the Scientists of Salisbury.

Also participating were members of the Statesville Senior High School Chorus and the North Iredell High School Chorus. Violinists were Mary Speight and Elizabeth Weddington, with Janice Sloan on the flute, Mike Anthony, Robert Crawford and Colin Davis, trumpeteers.
