CAP) -West German midfielder Arno Steffenhagen scored two goals yesterday, pacing the Chicago Sting to a 4-3 exhibition soccer victory over the Cosmos and the 1982 Trans Atlantic Challenge Cup title. Giorgio Chinaglia. the North American Soccer League's all-time leading scorer, made all three Cosmos goals, two on penalty kicks. Forwards Karl-Heinz Grantiza of West Germany and Gordon Hill of England completed the Sting's scoring. In the first game of the Giants Stadium doubleheader, Italian first-division Napoli blanked Nacional of Uruguay 3-0 on goals by Giuseppe Damiani, Clau-dio Pellegrini and Gaetano Musella.

The two games, played under heavily overcast skies, drew 36.000 spectators. Cosmos forward Ricky Davis, trying to clear the ball from Steffenhagen, back-heeled it toward Granitza, who scored from about 10 feet at 26:18. Chinaglia outleaped midfielder Mark Simanton to tie the game on a header at 32.43. The play began when Chico Borja chipped the ball to Chinaglia over the head of Sting goalkeeper Dieter Ferner. Steffenhagen.

assisted by Granitza, put the ball over Cosmos goalkeeper Hubert Birkenmeier, who slid while trving for the save, for a 2-1 lead at Hill maneuvered the ball to Steffenhagen, who kicked it past Birken-meier's outstretched right arm in the 42nd minute, giving Chicago a 3-1 half-time lead. Chinaglia narrowed the gap at 3-2 in the 71st minute on a penalty kick set up when Julio Cesar Romero, the Cosmos Paraguayan midfielder, was fouled by Charlie Fajkus. wmmm Pitcher's Honor Roll No Hitlers Deberry, Highland Park; DiLeo, Wardlaw One Hitters Meads, Monroe Russell, NB Tech D'Agoslino, Stevens 2, Zolner, Metuchen, Foal, New Brunswick Two Hitters Zolner, Metuchen Thompson, Hoffman Trov, NB Tech; Schenedeck, Stevens; Skariynski, Hoffman; Wilson, Sootswood; Anderson, Piscataway; Mangione, St. Mary's; Nugent, Madison; Hronich, Carteret Shutouts Thompson, Hoffman Zolner, Metuchen Seel, East Brunswick Christenson, North Brunswick Juhasz, St. Thomas Phillips, Edison 2 Complete Games Meads, Monroe Anderson, Piscataway Spearnock, Edison Phillips, Edison Zolner, Metuchen Wilson, Spotswood Thompson, Hoffman Juhasz, St.

Brothers introduce 'Boxing Analyst' fights each issue. The target audience seems to be those who watch boxing on television. Keith, who once tried his hand at auto racing, is editor of the publication, while the publisher is Jeffrey, an investment and securities attorney, who trained for a couple of years in a New York gym but didn't fight.

But he did fight a couple of times in the Army in the early 1960s and received a bashed nose. "Jeffrey and as fans, used to argue about boxing contests," says Keith. "We wanted to know more information in advance of fights." The brothers decided that other fans also wanted to know more about fights in advance, especially in these days when the game in booming on network and cable television. So, they started "The Boxing Analyst." Of course, it's too early to tell if it will be a success boxing publications come and go frequently. After three issues, the newsletter had 1,300 paid subscribers, according to Keith, who says, "It seems to be growing and we've been approached by some advertisers.

By The Associated Press Jeffrey and Keith Kaufman grew up listening. After all their late father was Murray The a New York disc jockey given a lot of credit for introducing the Beatles to the United States. But they also heard the rhythms of the prize ring. And it's to the boxing beat that Jeffrey, 38, and Keith, 31, have decided to march with a bi-monthly newsletter-type publication called "The Boxing Analyst." The idea is to have "experts" analyze and pick the winners of at least six Somerset County Team Scoring Kuns For Runs Agst. 62 87 107 86 111 89 91 96 146 DiH.

The key question is are there enough fight fans willing to pay $2.50 an issue to get information about matches that they, for the most part, will be watching on television. An apparent plus, which really is not one, is that gamblers want prior information an edge.

Boxing is not a big gambling sport these days. Most betting on boxing is a man-to-man affair between boosters of various fighters, and often is drawn along ethnic and racial lines. Skills and styles seldom enter into it. Of course, a major fight will attract some solid action. Las Vegas sports books reportedly handled about $1 million each on the Larry Holmes-Muhammad Ali and the Sugar Ray Leonard-Thomas Hearns fights.

But $1 million is peanuts compared to what is bet on a night of college basketball or a weekend of college and pro football or even on a single game sometimes. In issues No. 2 and No. 3 of "Boxing Analyst," its experts had little difficulty picking winners. But some experts should have been disqualified for certain fights.

For instance, fans probably weren't surprised that David Gorman picked Donald Curry to beat Bruce Finch, since Gorman is Curry's manager.
