The previously undefeated Marines were blown completely out of Tampa Stadium last night, trounced 45-19 by the University of Tampa Spartans in a game that was nowhere near as close as the score Indicates. Quarterback Jim Del Cazio led the Spartans in a cool, then uncorked Leon McQuay, the sophomore running back who has never quite lived up to his press clippings this year. McQuay's first scoring run was from 13 yards out.

Two fakes and a fast cut to the left carried McQuay untouched into the end zone and hang of defending against it. The Spartans took a 17-0 halftime lead as Del Gazio calmly clicked on third down after third down. It HOUSTON (UPI) Earl Thomas, a second team tight end, made a leaping catch in the end zone with 11 seconds left yesterday to give the University of Houston a 38-36 victory over the University of Miami. Quarterback Gary Mullins, who was the goat three minutes earlier when he fumbled on the Miami one-yard line, threw the 7-yard pass to Thomas. Mullins had guided Houston 46 yards in seven plays in the final 1:04 seconds with Miami leading 36-31. Kelly Cochrane, a sopho-m quarterback from Miami, threw four touchdown passes in completing ft of 31 for 343 yards to break two George Mira records in leading the 16-point underdogs to a near upset. Mullins' winning touchdown pass was his second of the game. He had thrown a 15-yard scoring pass to Elmo Wright in the third quarter to give Houston a 24-21 lead. Seven hogs got Inlo the game Friday night in the fourth quarter. Thry didn't seem to recognize the football, which is made of pigskin, but stopped the game for SO minutes. The hogs belong to Blue Ridge High, which goes in heavily for agriculture. They are quartered in a prn near the football field. The hogs either escaped or were let out, and made straight for the bright lights and the noltte.

Blue Ridge and Tom Bean have small enrollments and play eight-man football, rather than with rrgular ll-man teams. With the arrival of the hogs, the teams dropped their rivalry, Joined forces and started chasing the porkers. Six were roundrd up in 20 minutes but it took 10 minutes to catch thfi seventh, an exceptionally fast-footed hog. With the hogs off the field, Blue Ridge and Tom Bean finished Ihe game.
