Thcetge will be ordained and Installed as a deacon of First Presbyterian Church of Gulfport Sunday under the new Presbyterian Church, U.S., law permitting women to be elected to church offices. Tlie pastor, The Rev. C. Logan Landrum, says Mrs. Theetge may well be the first woman deacon In Florida.

The law involving women and church offices was passed at an April meeting of the denomination's General Assembly. MUSIC during the 11 a.m. ordination-installation service will be directed by the church's new choral director, Herbert L. Beam. The choir will also perform under his direction in the 9 a.m.

service. Beam formerly directed the choir of First Methodist Church, Plant City, and the College Heights Methodist Church, Lakeland. He is one of the directors of the St. Petersburg Civic Opera, and is choir director and instructor of vocal music at Disston Junior High School. Beam is a graduate of State University of New York with a bachelor of science degree in music.

Henry M. Schmidt New Minister To Be Honored An 8 p.m. reception tomorrow in Fellowship Hall of Cloarview Methodist Church will honor the new minister, the Rev. Henry M. Schmidt, his wife and two children, and the Rev.

Balch is associate minister. Mr. Schmidt, who assumed duties here last weekend, was pastor of Pine Castle Methodist Church in Orlando for six years before coming to St. Petersburg. He Is a graduate of Florida Southern College and the Candler School of Theology.

A tool will be given to each man today as invitation to help clear five acres of land on which the eon-gregation plans to build an auditorium this year. Work is to begin at the site, 78th Avenue near 131th Street, today at 9 a.m. Fathers and other men of the church and community are also invited to bring their own tools to help get the Job done. Paul C. Johansen Deacon To Be Ordained The lit. Rev. William L. Har-grave, suffragan bishop of the Diocese of South Florida of the Episcopal Church, will ordain Paul C.

Johansen to the Sacred Order of Deacons at St. Peter's Church Tuesday, the Feast of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist, at 10 a.m. Johansen was born in Cambridge, Mass. He served in the U.S.

Navy from 1952 until 1956 including a tour of duty In the submarine service. In 1956 he entered Boston University and In 1961 was graduated from the University of Miami with a degree of bachelor of education. He taught in the public school system in Miami for a short time before entering Berkeley Divinity School where he was graduated in June this year with a degree of bachelor of sacred theology. Johansen married the former Elaine R. Fields in 1957.

After his ordination, he will serve as curate of St. Peter's Parish. He will also have the responsibility for the chaplaincy to the Episcopal students at Florida Presbyterian College and St. Petersburg Junior College.
