Shannon's Bradenton Chapel. 133 Seek Special Ballots PUNTA GORDA There have been 133 applications in Charlotte County for special ballots for new residents to vote in the presidential election. These are for people who have moved Into the county from other states, but who have not lived here long enough to meet the one-year residency requirement to register for state and local elections.

Mrs. Jack (Tosie) Hindman, supervisor of registrations, explained that they may vote here in the presidential election if they are qualified to vote in their former state. They may not vote in Florida state and local elections. The special ballots will be used after applications are JACKSONVILLE (UPI) -The Rt. Rev.

E. C. Hatcher, presiding bishop of the African Methodist Episcopal Church in Florida and the Bahamas, died Monday night at the age of 66. The bishop became ill at home early Monday afternoon and died at 7:30 p.m. in a local hospital.

HE WAS A native of Doth-an, and began his ministry here in 1924. He was elected bishop of the lllh District (Florida) In 1952 and was reassigned to the post during the 38th quadrennial session of the AMIS Church's general conference in Philadelphia last May 22. The bishop had served as chairman of the board of trustees of Edward Waters College here and also had recently served as president of the Council of Bishops of the International AME Church. IN JULY, 19GG, Bishop and Mrs. Hatcher were authorized to go to Rome, the Holy Land and Cairo on a research mission for the AME Church.

Mrs. Hatcher was to study missionary practices on the trip and to report her findings to the church's women's missionary society at its meeting that year in Pittsburgh. Officials of the district said no successor to Rev. Hatcher has been named yet. Funeral services will be held Monday, but the time and place have not been set.

N. )tt OMr.l Art. PALMETTO Mrs. Hilma Patro Courtney, 85, pioneer settler of Palmetto, died Monday (Sept 23, 196S) at Manatee Memorial Hospital. She resided at 710 Fifth St.

She was the widow of Oscar Columbus Courtney Sr. Mr. Courtney came to Erie, north of Palmetto, in 1894 and set up bachelor's quarters with his two brothers and started farming. He returned to Glenwood, in 1898 and Staff Photo by George lan Jr. Eastern Star.

She was born in Glenwood, Ala. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Gladys Ther-iot, Palmetto, and Mrs. Nettie Mae Newman, Columbus, two sons Cecil Calvert, Palmetto, and Marvin Venice; two brothers, Virgil McDougald. Mineola, and A.

D. McDougald, Lake-view, Ark; three sisters, Mrs. Vernon Lindley, Mineola, Mrs. C. W.

Murphy, Haughton, and Mrs. H. L. Smith, Hawkins, eight grandchildren, Calvert N. Courtney and Miss Nancy Joy Theriot, both of Palmetto, W.

Rescuer To Get Heroism Award PORT CHARLOTTE -Roger Buis, 12, of Charlotte Park, who saved a child from drowning in a canal last year, has won the Bancroft Award given through the Florida Federation of Humane Societies for an outstanding act of kindness and heroism.

Monday fSept. 23, 1068). Born Picka- Rev. Glazier Dies; Pioneer BRADENTON Rev. George Morris Glazier, 77, Manatee River Hotel, died Tuesday (Sept.

24. 19C8) at Manatee Memorial Hospital. Born in Manatee County he was a member of one of the pioneer families of the county. A Methodist Minister, Rev. Glazier served pastorates at West Palm Beach, Naples, Jacksonville, Boca Grande, Moore Haven and Coleman.

He retired after 25 years of service to the church and devoted the next 25 years to the operation of Glazier's nursery specializing in creating gardenia varieties near Oneco. He is survived by his wife, Minnie, and several nieces and nephews. Shannon's Bradenton Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Constitution Revision Topic For Meeting SARASOTA A discussion meeting on the proposed revision of the Florida constitution will be presented Thurs day at 8 p.m. under the co- sponsorship of the League of Women Voters and the Sarasota Jaycees.

The meeting will be in the County Commission chambers at the courthouse. Speakers will be State Sen. Lawton M. Chiles Jr. and Warren Henderson.

Margaret Woodsmall will be moderator.
