JAMES, Daughter. Giselle Mother, Sisters, and Brother CARD OF THANKS The family of Richa rd Tomaszews- DEATH NOTICES NEW YORK (AP) The stock mar ket snapped back from an early dip below the 900 level in the Dow Jones industrial average to record a moderate advance yesterday. Prices finished strong, chalking up most of their gains on stepped up volume in the last hour of the session. The Dow average of 30 blue chips, down more than 3 points at around 899 in early trading, wound up with a reading at 908.67. Gainers outpaced losers by about a 4-3 margin on the New York Stock Exchange.

Big Board volume increased to 21.11 million shares from 18.93 million Monday. The Dow, jumping back and forth uncertainly near its lowest level since early last year, rose 9.08 points last Friday only to fall back 9.16 in Monday's session. The downtrend continued early yesterday. But it was abruptly reversed at mid-morning as some traders evidently chose to take the average's 900 level as a buying point. Once the support at Dow-900 became apparent, the advance picked up momentum.

The upswing occurred against a backdrop of generally unfavorable economic news. There was a report Monday Saudi of the estimated- 2,000 unlicensed adult care facilities in his state turned up "absolutely horrendous situations" in which the elderly infirm, handicapped and mentally impaired have been "literally stuffed into attics, basements and even in one case in a barn."
