(AP) President Clinton bid farewell to his mother for the last time Saturday at a funeral where she was remembered as "a celebration on the way to heaven." Thousands of mourners, from neighbors and friends to top admin- istration officials and entertainer Barbra Streisand, paid their respects to Virginia Kelley. Clinton's 70- year-old mother died in her sleep Thursday after a battle with breast cancer. The service was held just hours before Clinton was to leave on a scheduled nine-day European trip. At the end of the day, Clinton held back tears as he said goodbye to his stepfather, Richard Kelley amd his half-brother, Roger, who held a single yellow rose and wept openly. The president gave his stepfather a bear hug before departing for Washington aboard a presidential aircraft.

All Hot Springs residents were invited to what the Rev. John P. Miles, the Clinton family pastor, called a "celebration of Virginia's life." Singer Continued From Page A1 A Lafayette native who attended Carroll County schools until transferring to Logansport High School in her senior year, Krauss began singing along with her grandfather when she was very young. "I was just old enough to talk," she said. Grandpa plays the fiddle and guitar and once made a record.

Her mother could sing, too. The daughter of Richard and Donna Stonebraker of Delphi, Krauss had no formal training in music or voice, just what she learned playing clarinet in the school band from 6th and 9th grade, singing with the "Entertainers," the girls quartet and madrigals at Delphi High School and the choir at LHS. Her solos captured awards at state high school competitions. Is she good? "That what I've been told, that's what they say," Krauss said with a broad smile. "I think I'm pretty good," she adds with confidence.

Krauss, employed in the dining room at the Logansport Holiday Inn, has been told that it could be some time up to six months before her video is reviewed by the show's executive producer. But individuals selected to appear on the television show will get a telephone call from Nashville. Can she handle the disappointment if Nashville never calls? "I don't even want to think about that. My husband keeps telling me I will hear from them, that I will get a call. "It's always been my dream.

I am so happy." Police Reports Friday 7:50 a.m. Property-damage accident, Cass County Road 100N, east of County Road 700E. A vehicle driven by Marie A. Bowman, 18, Rt. 4, Logansport, struck a deer.
