INJURED BY TREE FALL Harold Hans of Clarksburg RD 1 man was listed in serious condition this morning at Latrobe Area Hospital after a tree fell on him in his yard Wednesday at 2:36 p.m. According to Saltsburg firemen, Hans was cutting down a tree on his property when it struck a nearby dead tree that landed on him. According to the police report, a lawn mower, a riding mower, a snow blade, a weed eater and other items valued at $1,600 were taken from a tool shed. PUNXSUTAWNEY Someone threw stones through the windows of a summer camp lodge in North Mahoning Township, Indiana County, sometime between Sunday and Tuesday, state police in Punxsutawney said. The owner of the camp, located on Township Road 490, was listed as John Levy of Punxsutawney RD 1. Damages was set at $700.

ROSSITER A 17-year-old juvenile was assaulted on Route 533 in Canoe Township at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, state police said. Police said the victim had been involved in a fight. William Franklin Byers, 19, of 1130 Church Indiana, was given a non-traffic citation for harassment Monday for his involvement in a disturbance Saturday on Township Road 760 in White Township, state police in Indiana said. Donegal man killed in crash LATROBE A Donegal man was killed Wednesday afternoon in a two-car crash in Unity Township, Westmoreland County, state police in Greensburg said.

According to police, Gene Sutherland. 61, died when his car collided with another vehicle driven by Andrew Rushnock, 74, of Latrobe RD 1 at the intersection of Legislative Routes 64151 and 64230. Police said Rushnock was traveling east on L.R. 64230 at 5:05 p.m. when he failed to stop at a stop sign and hit the left front of the Sutherland car.

and Hutoea Shaffer Bothell. he was born June 20.1892. in Latrobe. Mr. Bothell had lived most of his life in Indiana County and was a plastering contractor.

Surviving are his wife, Roxie Miller Bell Bothell; a stepson, John Bell, Madison, Ohio; a stepgrandson; four sisters: Mrs. Laura Lingenfelter, Indiana RD Mrs. Zelma Byers, Fairfax, Mrs. Mazie Lingenfelter, Creekside; Mrs. Virginia Stuchell.

C.W. Wion and Rev. Richard M. King will officiate with interment tc follow in the Blairsville LEROY WHEELER, 81, of Homer City RD 2, died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 1985, in the Indiana Presbyterian Home.

A son of Charles Thomas and Mary Veronica Smith Wheeler, he was born Feb. 28.1904, at Lilly, Cambria County. Mr. Wheeler was a member of the Luthran Church of Lilly. Formerly of Jacksonville, he had resided at his present address since 1956.

He was a retired employe of the Coal having worked at the Mclntyre mines, and was a member of the UMWA Local 3548 at Mclntyre. Surviving are his wife, Annie Wytosick Wheeler, whom he married Sept. a son, John Jacksonville; three daughters: Mr. Fred (Eleanor) Pividori, Clune; Mrs. Richard (Marjorie) Ditch and Mrs.

Robert (Leona) Henry, Indiana; nine grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren; two brothers, Charles of Lilly and Bruce of Sharpsville. He was preceded in death by a son, Leroy, and three brothers, Edward, Clifford and Frederick. Friends will be received from 2A and 79 p.m. Friday at the Frank T. Mihalcik Funeral Home, Indiana, where services will be conducted at Saturday.

JOHN PELES 80. of 34 Sherman Clymer, died Wednesday, Sept. 25.

1985, in the Indiana Hospital. A son of Wasko and Anna Peles. he was born June 21.1905. in Baccaria, Clearfield County, Mr. Peles was a member of St.

Anthony's Roman Catholic Church of Clymer and the Clymer Slovak Club. He was employed in area coal mines' for over 50 years prior to his retirement in 1969. Surviving are five children: Mrs. Stanley (Margaret) Mattis and Paul and Mrs. Stanley (Sophia) Blazavich.

Bly Funeral Home, Dayton Blairsville firemen called Firemen were calledto two Blairsville area fires Wednesday and today: BLAIRSVILLE Blairsville firemen were called at 7:58 a.m. today for a car fire on the Route 217 detour about three miles west of Blairsville. The fire was in the engine compartment of a Renault Le Car owned and driven by Donna Ercole-Bash of Indiana. Damage was reported to be minor. BLAIRSVILLE Firemen from Tunnelton and Blairsville were called at 1 p.m.

Wednesday for a fire at a gas well site near Sharpe's Country Store between Tunnelton and Blairsville. Saltsburg firemen plan events SALTSBURG September has been a busy month for Saltsburg firemen, and there's no break in the schedule. Aside from their normal duties, members of the Saltsburg Volunteer Fire Department have spent their time planning a '50s and '60s dance, which is slated for 9 p.m. this Saturday. A disc jockey will spin the records of those decades, and prizes will be awarded to the couples whose costumes best represent those eras.

The department's annual door-to- door fund drive will also begin this month. Local businesses will be solicited by mail. The fund drive chairwoman is June Vatter, and cochairmen are Mike Brosko Jr. of Saltsburg, Donald Miller of Loyalhanna Township and Brad Turk of Conemaugh Township. In projects completed, a crew of firefighters volunteered their time to dig up the sidewalk in front of the Senior Citizens' Center on Point Street.

The sidewalk, badly in need of repairs, was replaced. Firemen also joined departments across the nation in the Labor Day weekend Boot Day for Muscular Dystrophy. It was also announced that David Webb, captain of the department's rescue and recovery team, completed paramedic training recently this first member of the Saltsburg department to do so. Meanwhile, forest fire wardens Roger Philipps and Bill Petro attended the Pennsylvania Forest Fire Wardens' State Training School at Dickinson College in Carlisle. In upcoming events, the annual fire-prevention program, conducted in conjunction with National Fire Prevention Week, is slated for 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct.

10. The program will feature a film, handouts, demonstrations and drawings. Forty smoke detectors will also be given away, and Smokey the Bear is expected to visit. The vehicle-rescue class, a 40- hour state-certified program that began in early September, is scheduled to be completed on Sunday, Oct. 6.

The course is under the direction of the Indiana University of Pennsylvania Highway Safety Center and is being taught by Saltsburg chief Ron Shannon. Firemen, in cooperation with the Saltsburg Lions Club, also will sponsor the annual Halloween parade at 7 p.m.. Wednesday, Oct 30. Development authority seeks additional loan proposals While the Indiana County Industrial Development Authority has reached its 1985 allotment of funds for job-creating projects, supplemental allocations expected in November prompted the authority at its meeting Thursday morning to continue to receive proposals for IDA loans. Interested parties should, however, submit their requests as soon as possible in order to be in line for 1985 funds to be made from the governor's special allocation fund and other money left over from counties that did not expend all of their funds.

While no guarantee for funding can be given for projects submitted this year, they could become eligible for IDA funds expected to be made available for calendar 1986. The parcel has since become part of Man charged with $1 million weather fraud PHILADELPHIA (AP) A Montgomery County businessman has been indicted on charges of defrauding the National Weather Service of more than SI million on a contract to build electronic broadcast equipment, authorities said. Raphael Alex Meyer of Meadowbrook was named in a 34- count federal grand jury indictment Wednesday charging him with mail fraud and submitting false claims and statements, authorities said.

Meyer, president and owner of Ampro submitted false invoices for more than $1.01 million, U.S. Commerce Department spokesman Malcolm Barre said. Ampro had a contract to build 50 electronic consoles for broadcasting forecasts over the nationwide Weather Service network, Barre said. another development funded through the Small Business Administration. Approval was given for a resolution of utility access to a project at the Indiana Medical condominiums on South Sixth Street at the intersection with Indian Springs Road since an easement agreement has been made with the concerned property owners.

Changes in the loan agreement with CKE Industries was approved to enable the developer to obtain a better loan arrangement. Armstrong GOP plans banquet KITTANNING Sen. Tim Shaffer and Allegheny County Commissioner Barbara Hafer will be guest speakers at the Armstrong County Republican Dinner Wednesday, Oct. 16, in the Kittanning Township Firehall. Shaffer, who represents Butler County and portions of Clarion, Lawrence and Venango counties, has served in the state Senate since 1980.

Hafer, elected county commissioner in 1983, was the first woman to hold that post in Allegheny County. Superior Court Judge Zoran Popovich will share speaking honors. Appointed to the Superior Court in 1981, he is now seeking a full 10-year term on the bench. U.S. Sen.
