REPUBLIC CITY Page 8. The Arlrona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona. July 21,1959 Final Okay Given Top Mesa Buget MESA Mesa city council last night gave full approval to the 1959-60 budget, largest in the city's history. the budget Is in excess of $3,400,000. It was tentatively approved July 6.

There were no protests at last night's meeting. No city property tax levy will be necessary to meet the expenditures. Revenues from the city-owned utilities are used to defray the cost of running Mesa. THE COUNCIL took under advisement a street-naming plan from Mesa to the Final County Fire Station Planned For Sky Harbor An all-metal permanent fire station at Sky Harbor was approved for erection in 1960 last night by the city council. Jack Urie, director of the city's research and budget bureau, pointed out that from $10,000 to $15,000 can be saved by an all- metal structure.

Brick firehouses cost about $54,000. Fire protection for buildings at the airport is now furnished by city fire trucks based at nearby stations off the airport grounds. Airplane crash protection is afforded by a city foam-spraying unit housed at the airport and by crash trucks of the Arizona National Guard. Darrell Gardner, general manager of Magma Copper, said a rock fell on Mora and knocked him down, and another rock rolled on him. Mora was buried except for his head and shoulders, Gardner said. Two other men working underground with Mora were uninjured.

His companions dug Mora out, but the victim died on the way to Magma Hospital. Gardner said Mora had been an employe for 12 years. Survivors include his wife, Lila, and five children.
