and Scottsdale. The couple plans a Feb. 10 wedding in St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church. The bride- elect was graduated from Concordia College, Moorehead, and Southwest Preparatory School for Medical Assistants.

Reed Jr. BREWER-REED WHITERIVER Mr. and Mrs. Harry L. Brewer have announced the engagement of their daughter, Coleen Lee, to Kennith R.

Reed Jr. The future bridegroom, 8 professional baseball player with the Houston Astros, is the son of Kennith R. Reed Sr. and Mrs. Ruth Brescia, both of Las Vegas, Nev.

James Ray Dowd, Sacto, Callf. are parents of the bride. The bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. William Gordon Harvey, Phoenix.

Mrs. Christine Blair was matron of honor and Jeffrey Derickson was best man. Mr. Harvey was graduated from the University of Arizowhere he was vice president and treasurer of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. He currently attends the Thunderbird Graduate School of International Management. LATHEN-TAYLOR Valerie Ann Taylor became the bride of James Eugene Lathen recently in Westwood Assembly of God Church. Parents of the newlyweds are Mr.

and Mrs. Joseph C. Taylor of Glendale and Mr. and Mrs. John Lathen of Phoenix.

Derrick, a graduate of the UofA, was elected to Phi Betta Kappa. He has a law degree from the UofA law school, where he was Symposium editor of the Arizona Law Review and a member of the Order of the Coif.
