She uses all her pljysical charms to convince him that they should get married. One of the best in the cast is Thelma Ritter, insurance company nurse who pays Stewart daily visits. Wendell Corey is excellent; so is Raymond Burr, the menace in this picture.

Some of his photographs are used to clear the mystery. The 112-minute Paramount color film was produced and directed by Hitchcock, who used, as solid basis for the picture, a screenplay written by John Michael Hayes from a short story by Cornell Wool-rich. In the picture Hitchcock confines all action to a single setting, drawing nerves to the snapping point and relieving this tension when it becomes unbearable, by using lighter touches in dialog and situations. The film, now showing at the Florida theatre, holds more than the usual share of suspense. There's even a time, too, when it settles down long enough for the audience to think the problem is solved. Then, presto and zoom, and it's off to a new high. Another master touch by the greatest maestro of them all, Alfred Hitchcock. "Rear Window" is brilliantly conceived and, as one critic has said, more of a wasitdun than a whodunit.

Suspense and motivation do not depend on determining the slayer but on whether or not there has been a murder. There is a main plot and several subplots to provide good story telling, philosophy and character analysis. The audience gets to know Jimmy's apartment house i Li SAVAGE THRILLS STARK DRAMA IN TCH.
