Rev. C. C. Jones, pastor of the church, is doing the preaching, and is so strong in his convictions that the curse of sin is taking its toll in the lives of the people of this community that his sermons are filled with truths of religion that should be practiced in the life of men and women. Rev.

Mr. Jones is a Bible student; he preaches from the Bible, and makes his sermons so plain that the child can ascertain the full meaning of his texts. Aside from the meeting, Miss Little is conducting a Bible Training Course for children. Every child in Mendenhall has a cordial invitation to meet Miss Little in the morning study of the Bible. People from all over the county are taking advantage of this great spiritual awakening, and if you are not among the crowd, be present at the next service.

Added to the seventh wonder of the world should be the man who owes you a debt, 'and yet has the audacity to meet you on the street, shake your hand, pat you on the back, bum you for a cigarette and then not mention the fact that he owes you an honest debt. There is such a man, according to information furnished us. Ordinarily the practice of the debt-beater is to avoid meeting with his creditor; to shun him in all public places, and if forced to meet him, be well armed with alibis that would be so convincing that the hopes of the creditor would run as high as a thermometer on the hottest August day. The fol PROVEN BY THE CROWDS THAT ARE FLOCKING TO common practice of the person who makes debts with no earthly idea of paying them is to try his best to find sufficient fault with the person he owes ias to hold personal animosity against his benefactor, thus giving said "dead-beat" reason to "get hot;" thereby excusing him from the duty of being on friendly terms with the person who has done him a favor by extending him credit. Of course there are exceptions to all rules, and not every person who owes a debt and fails to pay it promptly is dishonest. Many a good man has had to procrastinate for time, possibly when misfortune has befallen them, to pay their debts.

People of this type will be courteous enough to favor you with an explanation as to why they are delinquent, and nine times out of ten it will not be long before they will be ready to settle, but the more we see and hear of the professional "debt-beater" the kind that holds a high head and carries a dirty heart, the more we appreciate the method of punishment as carried out at the old-fashioned whipping post. lowing officers were elected: Peggy Mahaffey, president Frances French, vice president Adelia Rogers, sec-reporter Evelyn Webb, treasurer n7.
