Chicago Tribune ArtsEntertainment Section 4 Friday, July 7, 2017 3 Kardashian-Chyna episode is telling Nude posts show scarlet letters remain mostly only for women Heidi Stevens Balancing Act To paraphrase Dr. Seuss: A person's a person no matter how closely she associates with a Kar-dashian. So Blac Chyna the target of ex-fiance Rob Kardashian's social media antics deserves no less privacy and humanity than the rest of us. Kardashian posted multiple nude photos of Chyna (with whom he has a daughter) on Instagram on Wednesday, along with a bunch of accusations about elective surgeries and jewelry he paid for and other men she slept with. Instagram took down the images shortly after noon, at which point Kardashian directed his followers to Twitter, where he reposted them.

Those have been taken down too. "This is, in many ways, exactly what the revenge porn law talks about," Louis Shapiro, a criminal defense attorney, told the Los Angeles Times. "A prosecutor here could choose to make an example of him even if she doesn't want to cooperate." California passed a law against "non-consensual pornography" in 2013. Violating it is a misdemeanor resulting in up to six months in jail. Illinois passed a similar "revenge porn" law in 2014, making it a felony to post sexually explicit videos and photos of another person online without his or her Blac Chyna and Rob Kardashian visit Atlanta in 2016.

Kardashian's social media attack on her this week could meet the legal PRINCE WILLI AMSWIREIM AGE definition of revenge porn. Chyna or anyone for that matter can choose when, where and with whom to share her assets and when, where and with whom not to. Always. Forever. That never expires.

"gentlemen," while the entertainers get to be treated as subhuman.) Her past job was mentioned repeatedly in social media posts Wednesday as justification for helping Kardashian's temper tantrum go viral, as though taking one's clothes off to make a living means you forever surrender agency over your body. Nope. Chyna or anyone for that matter can choose when, where and with whom to share her assets and when, where and with whom not to. Always. Forever.

That never expires. It's pretty basic. If I donate $100 to a nonprofit, that doesn't mean I'm OK with someone walking up and stealing $100 from me the next day. But you were giving it away yesterday Same thing with your body. (I have no idea, at this point, whether Rob Kar dashian counts as a nonprofit Last I checked, he designs socks.) Anyway, it's unseemly, at best, and misogynistic, at worst, to pretend the way Chyna's being exposed and pilloried is OK.

Spending capital emotional and financial on a person and having that person cheat on you is no fun, but it doesn't give you carte blanche to violate that person's privacy and agency. Why should any of us care? Because it's an opportunity to examine the technology, culture and attitudes that surround and influence us. Because our children have phones. "There will be no co-mixing of brands," Lamarre said. "You will not be seeing 'Blue Man Group by Cirque du There is no need for that. We want them to keep their autonomy." Lamarre is, of course, speaking of creative autonomy: Blue Man Group now will have access to the formidable Cirque marketing machine, not to mention its singular experience in the business of worldwide touring and presenting. "We've been around for awhile," Blue Man Group co-founder Chris Wink told the Tribune on Thursday morning. "And I think we've done a pretty good job of keeping our shows fresh, but we've had a harder time getting new projects off the ground and a harder time getting ourselves into parts of the world where we'd like to have a bigger presence." Blue Man Group, a privately held company based in New York, has performed at the Briar Street Theatre on Chicago's North Side since 1997. It also has shows in New York, Boston, Las Vegas, Orlando, Fla, and Berlin, plus a world tour. "This is a historic day for both the Cirque and Blue Man Group," said Daniel Lamarre, Cirque's president and CEO.

"We've been looking at each other for many years. We view those guys as innovators who are very much like us." Lamarre declined to reveal the purchase price but said that it was in the "tens of millions." Blue Man was founded by Wink, Phil Stanton and Matt Goldman. Goldman had previously sold his ownership stake to the private equity firm GF Capital, which became a co-owner with Wink and Stanton.
