A major road improvement underway for Ouachita County includes the rebuilding of Chaffie Creek Road which extends a distance of two and a half miles and connects U. S. Highway 79 with the Mt. Holly Road south 3 Camden.

The cost for the re-construction is about $76,645.91 according to County Judge Alfred Stinnett and one half this cost is being met with federal funds. The road intersects with State Highway 376 and runs along the western border of Cherokee Hills, a fast growing residential subdivision. It will provide an alternate route not only for motorists in the Cherokee Hills area but also for others who live in the south areas of the citv. This will preatly relieve the present traffic conjestion on State Highway 7 through Cullendale. Work presently being done includes the construction of a new bridge over Chaffie Creek and widening the roadway and straightening curves.

Some of the road elevations will be downgraded and the low areas will be raised. County Judge Stinnett said basic work is scheduled to be completed by early Fall and gravel will be applied. Next Spring the road will be paved, he said. Election Board Names Officials it Q. LITTLE ROCK (AP) The wIL.
