A graduate of the University of Maryland, with a degree in journalism, the 21-year-old blond flew here recently to attend the wedding of a friend, Marcia Marked, with whom she attended school in Maryland.

Now she plans to remain. Susi is staying with Mr. and Mrs. Howard S. Ramsdell, 5325 Fourth Street South.

Mr. Ramsdell and Susi's father, Alexander M. Greene, of Chicago, served together in the American Field Service in France during World War I. In the picture above, Susi is shown on the springboard at the Bahama Shores Yacht Association pool. er by stealing backstage tech niques from the men power.

Once In the driver's seat governor, he is ruthless and all powerful. He humbles enemies and friends, builds a gigantic machine, and then, like Humpty Dumpty has such a great fall that "all the king's men" couldn't put him together again. Broderick's delineation of character is unexcelled, as he graduates from an honest hick who dreams great things for his state to a dynamo who stops at nothing to achieve his own ends. He's reckless and ruthless, sac rificing family as he climbs the ladder. Rossen introduces a events and scenes, countless peo ple, but never loses the real thread, which is Crawford.

Before the picture was voted "best of the year" and its main actor. Broderick Crawford, and supporting actress, Mercedes McCambridge. given the coveted Oscars. Motion Picture maga zine contributed a bit of criticism. "For all.

its emotional Impact, the picture is not without fault," MP's critic said, explaining, as an afterthought which, under present conditions does not hold water, that "some sequences are too long and would be more effective if cut." Time magazine went all out in throwing bouquets at the picture almost two months in advance of the Academy Award. Leveling its praise at Scripter-Director Producer Robert Ros- sen. Time commented on Ros-sen's "newfangled techniques," which give the movie vaility and power. Attention was directed also to Miss McCambridge, Stark's hard boiled assistant in the picture, who "puts a snarl and growl into her radio-trained voice, spreading a small bonfire through her scenes and stealing them all." The picture, adapted from the Pulitzer prize novel of the same name by Robert Penn Warren, is about the political big shot who caused a ferment in the lives of everyone in his state. There's a similarity be tween his career and that of Huey Long, although Rossen has steered away from this angle.

As Wrillie Stark, Crawford is what he calls a "hick," a small town character who plugs away to become an attorney-at-law and runs unsuccessfully for offices of state treasurer and governor.
