By MARION AITCHISON 1 (Times Movie Reviewer) Selected by New York film critics as the best picture of 1940, "The Long Voyage Home" is a turbulent drama of the sea and men who sail it. The film is now playing a week's engagement at the Capitol theater, "Blonde Inspiration" being the co-feature. Though action abounds, "The Long Voyage Home" is really a character study of a group of seamen the Yank whose death affects his mates profoundly. Smitty who is a mystery to his companions and an object of suspicion until they discover the secret which has wrecked his life; Ole who plans to go home to Sweden; Dris who fights everybody else's battles as well as his own. The film reaches a thrilling climax when an English freighter bound for home rides out a vicious storm and progresses to mine-infested waters to be attacked by enemy planes when port is almost in sight.

And their voyage ended, two of them leave memories, one carries out his plans, but for most of them the "Long Voyage" just goes on. The picture is splendidly directed and boasts some unusual photography. The cast is a fine one with Thomas Mitchell, John Wayne, John Qualen and Ian Hunter giving especially impressive performances. "Blonde Inspiration," the co- I rzz. "Blonde Inspirati moves along briskly and with scarcely a serious moment offers bright entertainment for an hour or so.
