The village conn eil room, used as a court, w'us tilled with spectators, many being unable to get in.

The case was the outcome of a quarrel between the families of F. Russel and Jacob Ipes. A fence eight feet high was built by Russel between his puroperty and lpes prop- perty and within three feet of the hitter's home. Recently the lpes family tore down the fence, claiming that it shut off the light so they had to use artificial light all day. Russel then started proceeding to have Mrs, lpes put under bonds to keep the peace and tliis brought the matter court.

Both the complainant and defendant took stand and were each followed by a long string of corroborative wit nesses. The attorney on both sides made long atid eloquent appeals to the jury.
