I The September dinner meeting of the Welcome Wagon Newcomers Club was held on Tuesday, Sept. 23, at the Elk's Family Center. The meeting was called to order by President, Jeannine Prost, followed by the club prayer by Betty Wallace. An enjoyable dinner was served after which Jeannine Prost introduced Rose Hirons and Ruby Clinton who presented a fashion show narrated by Eileen Miller. The following first timers were introduced by Mrs.

Prost: Barbara Molita, Galena; Joy Irene Hill, Chicago: Beulah Ruiz, California; Alice White, Springfield; Karen Govier. consin; Karla Poskoski, Logan; Cheryl Bean, Missouri; Terry Dixon, Champaign. A good-by was said to Linda Drewes. Judy Wehrheim was thanked for having the September coffee. The secretary and treasurer's reports were read and approved.

The committee reports were given. The Vice-president thanked the hostesses for the evening Kathy Gerber, Linda Shields, and Pat Rohde. The lovely centerpiece donated by Easton's Florist was awarded Sherry Buckley. Other 'prize winner's for the eveing were: Eileen Miller, Valla Marteney, Mary Cameron, Derry Carpenter, Judy Harvey and Barbara Molita. Suminersville Round Dozen Sumrnersville Round Dozen Club met in the home of Mrs.

Christine Harlow on Oct. 8, with Mrs. Lois Clark as co-hostess. A delicious luncheon was served at the noon hour. Mrs.

Neva Bradford gave the table grace. Mrs. Harlow presided at the afternoon business meeting, roll call, secretary and the treasurer's reports were given. Birthday cards have been sent to those having birthdays in October. Emily Quick gave the devotions on Christian Life.

Mrs. Eunice Duncan was in charge of entertainment. The November meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Harriett Mossberger. Mt.

V. Woman's Club Mt. Vernon Woman's Club will meet Tuesday, Oct. 21, at the Top of the First for a 1:00 p.m. luncheon.

Business meeting at 12:45 p.m. Program will be presented by the Judith Gayle Shop, featuring a style show. Mrs. Earl Hanes is hostess chairman. Jefferson Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Jefferson Memorial Hospital Auxiliary will meet Thursday, Oct.

16, at 7:30 p.m. Installation of officers will be held. All members are urged to attend. Alpha Delta Kappa Sigma Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa International Honorary Society for Women Educators met on Oct. 2, at the J.L.

Buford School. The sorority prayer was given by Margaret Bullock, chaplain. Dessert and coffee were served by the hostesses, Martha Timmons, Edith Schultz, and Margaret Bullock. Twenty fove members and three guests were present. The program was presented by Mt.

Vernon Township High School Music students, Nancy Jackson, Marjorie Reynolds and Julie Sharer. Miss Jackson and Miss Reynolds each played violin solos, accompanied by Miss Sharer. "The Man I Love," by George Gershwin was the piano selection performed by Miss Sharer. She is a student of Mrs. Joan Bandy.

Birthday wishes were extended to Sharon Hall and Wilma Boswell. The business meeting was conducted by Mildred Jones, President. The Nov. 6 meeting will be held at the District No. 80 Administration Building, 1722 Oakland, Mt.

Vernon Garden Club fell oh the same date that was scheduled for the District VII meeting of the Garden Club of Illinois at Carbondale, the regular meeting was cancelled so that could attend the state meeting. District VII is composed of all the garden clubs of Southern Illinois. The morning meeting was a business session with each City-Sport Jacket People and Places ByNadine Horace L. Allen, Chief Yeoman U.S. Navy Retired, has returned to his home in California, after visiting with his brother-in-law and sister, Mr, and Mrs.

Albert Woodworth of Bluford, and other relatives and friends. Mr. Allen retired in August, after serving 31 and one-half years with the U.S. Navy. He is a former Register- News carrier.

Fall rush has been completed by the eight national sororities at Dlinois State University. Miss Sharon Yon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rinaldo Yon of 11 Fairway, has pledged Chi Omega. INEZ QUINN a resident of Jeffersonian Nursing Home, will be 83 years old on Oct.

Each person was awarded a prize during the recreation period. Brook Irvin and Helen Scrivner won the special gifts. Center and a horticulture display followed. After lunch the President of the Garden Club of Illinois, Mrs. James C.

Dawson of Elmhurst, addressed the group. The program, "Old Fashion New Fashion," was lecture demonstration of designs with emphasis on Early American by Mrs. Russell Christensen, a teacher of arranging, landscaping and flower show work from Skokie. Members of the Mt. Vernon Garden Club attending were Mrs.

Ray McKiness, Mrs. Terry Moore, Mrs. Ellis Richardson, Mrs. Homer Rutherford and Mrs. L.F.

Murphy. The next meeting of the club will be on Nov. 14th. Mary Angela Pouliot, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.

George Pouliot of Pontiac, 111., became the bride of Richard Claybourn Dulaney, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Dulaney of Mt. Vernon, on Saturday, August 30th, in the Formal Lounge in the International House on the Illinois State University campus in Normal. Pastor Marvin Fulks officiated at the double ring ceremony.

The bride, given in marriage by her parents, wore an Empire styled gown of white lace, featuring a square neckline and a detachable train. Her headpiece was formed of white daisies and she carried a bouquet of white daisies. The wedding dress was designed and made by a friend of the bride. Miss Cheryl Lynn Patterson, of Pontiac, was the maid of honor. Miss Karen Pouliot, sister of the bride was bridesmaid.

Stanley Mayo of Mt. Vernon, served as best man. Larry Lee, of Chicago was groomsman. Charles Bruce of Mt. Vernon and Tom Pouliot, brother of the bride, were ushers.

The music was provided by Julia Mullikin and Patti Wilcoxon of Normal. The music of "Laura's Theme," "The Wedding Song," "Follow Me," and "Time in a Bottle," were used as part of the wedding ceremony. A reception was held in the International House following the wedding. The reception table carried out the blue and white color theme and the three-tiered wedding cake was decorated with blue and white daisies. Miss Ann Lame of Pontiac, presided at the reception table, assisted by Julia Mullikin and Patti Wilcoxon of Normal.

Tina Lantz, of Normal presided at the gift table and Beth Koenen, of Normal, kelt the guest register. Honored guests were Miss Dorothy Haase, of Eagle Grove Iowa, great aunt of the bride, and Mrs. Ethel Dulaney and Harriett E. McCracken, of Mt. Vernon, grandmothers of the groom.

After the ceremony, the couple left for a wedding trip to Both are Library Science students at Illinois State University at Normal. The bride is a Junior, with a minor in Languages, and the bridegroom is a Senior with a History Minor. They are residing at B-19 Cardinal Court, Normal, 111. The rehearsal dinner was hosted by the parents of the groom on August 29th, in the Union Building at Illinois State University. An informal buffet for the out-of-town guests was held at the bride's home in Pontiac, prior to the wedding.

Out of town special guests were Mr. and Mrs. Lennes Threlkeld of McKinney, Texas, Mr. and Mrs. James Claybourn and Mr.

and Mrs. Jimmy Claybourn of Evansville, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dulaney of St. Louis, David Whitney of Carbondale, and Mike Dulaney, Mrs.

Martha Pettit and Miss Edna E. Garrison of Mt. Vernon. Other out of town guests were from and Eagle Grove, Iowa. John Warren of Chino, and Pvt.

and Mrs. Steven Warren and son, Steven John, of Radcliff, were weekend visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Hawkins and Mrs. Mae Warren in the King City and Mr.
