A A A A A A LINCOLN STATE JOURNAL, TUESDAY, APRIL 6, 1937 THIRTEEN Read Classification 58-The Boys And Girls Free Want Ad Column OMAHA CATTLE SUPPLY IS LARGER THAN USUAL Fed Steers, Yearlings Rule in Varied Market; Hog Receipts Light. ESTIMATES TUESDAY. Cattle Hogs Sheep Chicago 8,000 14,000 8,000 Omaha 4,500 4,000 5,000 Kansas City 4,000 1,500 7,000 OMAHA. (P). Cattle receipts 7,369: Supplies were comparatively liberal and larger than recent Mondays, with fed steers and yearling predominating in the run altho other classes were also well represented, there being quite 8 number of loads of stocker and feeder steers included.

Killing classes generally met with a slow indifferent demand, particularly fed steers and yearlings which were under price pressure from the start. Shippers held light and furnished but little support to the market, even on the strictly good and choice longfeds, altho a number of loads found outlet on outside orders. On medium to good grades trading dragged thruout the forenoon and into the afternoon, with prices ranging weak to 25c lower, and this weakness was also apparent on the choice longfeds largely owing to limited shipper inquiry. Numerous loads were unsold at well after the noon hour, including a few loads strictly good and choice yearlings and mediumweights. Fed heifers were in good demand and cleared fully readily at generally unchanged prices, all outlet good and choice grades with a dependable getting the best action.

Cows sold very slowly and, altho, supplies were not excessive, prices were under pressure and the market uneven. Strictly good and choice cows were scarce and quotably unchanged, while others were weak 25c lower, mostly 10c to 15c off. Bulls sold readily at generally steady prices. Vealers held about steady. Stockers and feeders were rather slow and the market was moderately uneven, most of the good to choice kinds finding a dependable demand and consequently little change.

Hogs receipts 3,871: Receipts were comparatively light for the opening session of the week, local unloads of approximately 4,000 head (including 900 directs) falling well below the run of 6,221 head (including 1,736 head direct) here last Monday. However, the seven midwestern markets, with a total of 44,600 head, compared favorably with the 45,000 head available the same day a week ago. General quality locally was below the level of last, week, strictly choice offerings being few and far between with only a small 1 showing of weighty butchers included. Sellers were out for higher prices, such ideas on moderate receipta' higher trends at outside centers. Early inquiry was limited shippers and yard traders, all interests holding back for steady, prices, but the market was established by shortly after midsession and sales generally ruled steady to 10c higher than Friday's average, with instances of a 25c gain on pigs and light lights.

Inbetween grades receipted for improved action and participated in the advance. Shippers took about 700 head, all weights. Sheep receipts 5,850: Receipts included 443 direct. Salable supply 23 loads wooled lambs and oneload mixed; mostly killers. Buyers made a long stand for a 15c to 25c decline on slaughter lambs but, with some inquiry trom shippers and favorable advices from outside markets, the deal finally developed on a strong basis with last Friday.
