Pioneer Legion Gets Citations PIONEER The Williams County Council of the American Legion Auxiliary was held at the Montpelier Methodist Church Social Rooms. The Pioneer Unit received the National Citation and the State Department citations, quota ribbon, a gold one hundred per cent plus ribbon, birthday call, Meritorious Service award. Mrs. Kenneth Gerdes of District 1. new president from Delta, presented the presidents the awards and reported the coming years requirements.

The Pioneer Unit drew to entertain the Unit of Edgerton during the year and to have County Council in June of 1965. Douglas Bible assisted by Marshall Donaldson of Montpelier showed their slides of the New York Worlds Fair. Attending from the Pioneer Unit were members, Mrs. Earl Bauder, Mrs. Fred Mierke, Mrs.

Florence Meyers, Mrs. Dan Wells, Mrs. Del Shumaker, Mrs. Charles Miller and Mrs. Robert Gamboe.

Daughter Of Former Resident Betrothed Mr. and Mrs. Loren F. Radabaugh of Kalamazoo announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Connie Rose, to Michael Bruce Elzinga of Charlevoix. The wedding will be an event of Aug.

29 in Kalamazoo. The bride-elect is a graduate of Western Michigan University where she was affiliated with Sigma Alpha Iota, national music sorority. She will be a teacher in the Portage School system this fall. Mr. Elzinga attending Michigan College of Mining and Technology and is a customer engineer with IBM Corporation.

Connie is a granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Radabaugh and Mr. and Mrs. E.

E. Kirk. Gay Variety To Meet Gay Variety Farm Bureau will meet at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Hergert Tuesday evening at 7:30.

Miss Joy Honored At Bridal Shower PIONEER A bridal shower was given by Mrs. Helen Potter honoring Betty Joy. The table was decorated in pink and white with a pink umbrella centerpiece holding the gifts. Games were conducted by Mrs. Norman Cook with the prizes going to the bride-elect.

The party participants designed and created the wedding gown and accessories, it was then modeled by the bride-to- be. Following the gift opening, refreshments were served to 23 guests. Jeptha Speer Passes At 88 Jeptha Speer, 88. 2313 W. North Jackson died Friday at the Veterans Facility.

Grand Rapids. He was a graduate of North Adams High School, 1895, and a long time resident of that area. Mr. Speer was the son of Beecher and Caroline (Kempton) Speer, to whom he was born January 24. 1876.

He served in the Spanish American War and was a member of the Stranford-Hunt Camp, Spanish American War Auxiliary, Jackson He was also a member of the North Adams Methodist Church and the Senior Citizens Club of Jackson. Mr. Speer is preceded in death by his wife Lillian Timms Speer whom he married in 1922. He is survived by a son, Robert of Jackson, and a sister, Mrs. Isabell Hawley, Seattle.

Washington. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p. m. Sunday, at the Ned M. Towns Funeral Home, North Adams.

Lou Christenson was authorized to bring in 10 high school teachers for workshop on team teaching Aug. 27 and 28. Bids from Standard Oil Company for gas and Warner Gulf for fuel oil were accepted by the board.

The debt millage for the new 1964 tax was set for 2.54 mills. A contract was approved for Ray Robinson of Ada, Ohio, for social studies and junior high science. Mr. Robinson is a 1964 graduate of Ohio Northern University. Alden Barrows was approved as a school grade teacher for the first semester only, unless a full-time teacher can be secured before Aug.
