WATKINS OIL And All Dealers By PAUL KISH The Hillsdale Hornets had a poor shooting night and consequently lost to Tecumseh, 63-53, Wednesday. Hillsdale was out- shot from the floor, 46 per cent to 29 per cent. The game started out well enough for the Hornets: After being behind for most of the period, the local club pulled out front, 15-14, on a jump shot by Pat Pastula which ended the quarter. The close game continued throughout the next period also. Hillsdale opened up a three-point lead on the first basket of the quarter, but it was the largest margin the Hornets could get.

After that, their lead was lived. Hillsdale fell behind by a few, but never let the visitors out of recch. Then, just before the half ended, a Hillsdale rally sparked by a driving layup by John Waters at the buzzer, gave the Hornets a 29-29 halftime tie. In the third stanza, Hillsdale fell behind once more. But this time the Indian lead was for good.

Tecumseh slowly pulled away, until it had gathered a 4541 lead at the end of the period. The final quarter saw the visitors pull away even further, getting their largest lead of the evening, 60-45, at one point. Only a final spurt enabled the Hornets to make the score close. Hillsdale was again led by captain Scott Resseguie, who had 17 points for the game. The only other Hornet in double figures was Eric VanDeusen with 10.

Also playing good games for coach Ken McNeely were John Mullin, John Waters and Pastula, who had eight, six and five points, respectively. Tecumseh had the high- scorer in Rick Tsarke with 19 points. He was backed up by Dave Cook who had 15. Statistically, the Hornets out- rebounded the Indians, 39-29, and beat them at the foul line 76 per cent to 62 per cent. But in the end it was the Hillsdale cold shooting which finished the Hornets off.

The Hornets had four fewer field goals then their opponents, but if they had shot a decent percentage their total could have been much higher.
