THE HILLSDALE DAILY NEWS, Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1964 Vern Haskins Dies Suddenly Vern Dean Haskins, 65, a farmer and resident of Adams Township for 55 years, died suddenly while doing chores at his farm home Wednesday morning. He was born Dec. 1, 1898 at Huron County, Ohio, the son of Albert I. and Mary Green Haskins.

He graduated from Hillsdale High School and was a private in the Field Artillery in the World War I. He was a member of the Osseo Methodist Church, the Farm Bureau, and was a past master and life member of Star Lodge 93 of Osseo. He married Madeline Meyers July 12, 1931. She survives, AS do two brothers, Theodore of Jackson and Wilbur of Robertsdale, Ohio; five sisters, Mrs. Flavia Maier of Chicago, Mrs.

Carl (Ruth) Glei of Hillsdale, Mrs. Ralph (Helen) Smallman of Chippewa Falls, Mrs. Richard (Alberta) Dannells of Downers Grove, and Mrs. David (Julia) Wheeler of Wakeman, Ohio. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.

m. at the Ned M. Towns Funeral Home in Hillsdale. The Rev. David Dryer will officiate and interment will be at the East Hill Cemetery in Osseo.

Thanksgiving Service QUINCY--The Quincy Union Church will host a union Thanksgiving service at 10 Thursday morning. The Rev. Birt Beers of the Methodist Church will speak on "Landmark for Americans." Detour Will Close LANSING (P) A 20-mile long detour will be eliminated today on: M-66 between Ionia and Stanton in Ionia and Montcalm counties, reports the State Highway Department. The highway will be opened to traffic during the winter months but the detour will be put into effect again next April 1 when construction resumes. No Injuries Reported In Train Derailment TILBURY, Ont.

(P) Twenty-five passengers and the three-man crew escaped injury when a Fort Erie-bound New York Central Railway train out of Detroit jumped the track at a level cossing here Tuesday. Witnesses said a baggage car left the track while the diesel locomotive was moving at high speed. The careening train tore up tracks and broke switches for about 200 feet past the crossing. Gaston E. Pann Dies At Center Gaston E.

Pann, 62. died Tuesday evening at the Hillsdale Community Health Center. He had been in failing health since 1960, when he suffered a heart attack. He was engaged in the farm implement business, and for a number of years, operated Pann's Pantry, a restaurant on U.S. 12.

He was born Jan. 1, 1902 at Ghent, Belgium, the son of Hector and Delphine Pann. He attended Denby High School in Detroit and was a member of the Jonesville Lions Club and the Gratiot Baptist Church in Detroit. He married Lorene Shook in 1953. She survives as does his mother, Mrs.

Delphine Gabbard; a daughter, Delphine, at home; two sons, Dona'd of Coldwater and the Rev. Thomas Pann of Curtis, two sisters. Mrs. Julia Fecteau of Mt. Clemens and Mrs.

Helen Zelenik of Detroit; one brother. Robert of St. Clair Shores: 12 grandchildren and 15 stepgrandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday at 12:30 p. m.

at the Ned M. Towns Funeral Home in North Adams. The Rev. Ross Epperley will officiate and interment will be at the White Chapel Cemetery in Detroit. Car-Bus Crash Fatal RUTH (P) Christina Ann Vogel, 21, of Bad Axe, was killed Tuesday when her car and 'a school bus collided just south of this Huron County community.

The delivery area includes all of southern Michigan from the line Bay City-Mount Pleasant-Michigan except the counties of Huron and Sanilac in the northeast and a portion of Berrien county in the southwest. This area includes over 460 post offices and over 200.000 people--nearly 90 per cent of the state's 's population. In Michigan Scheduled Delivery area, parcels will be transported to the destination post office overnight and will be delivered to the addresses on the next scheduled parcel delivery.
