CIVIC THEATRE JONESVILLE TONIGHT and SUNDAY Shows Tonight, 6:30 9:30 Sunday, 7:30 p.m. EUUNKHK nan Mme rjam mm Winntr of 27 International School Study Group Forms Work has now been completed in forming a committee to study the organization of school districts in Hillsdale County.

Formation of the committee is required by the K-12 education act passed by the last Michigan Legislature. This bill requires that all school districts provided elementary and secondary education from kindergarten through high school. It also requires that all counties form a committee to study the school districts in that county and, subject to a thorough study, recommend any changes needed to improve school operations. 4 Some time ago the school boards of the county met and selected five members to serve on this study committee. They are; Harold Marsh, Reading; Paul Walkup, Litchfield; Norma Hall, Jonesville; Don Draper, Pittsford; and Martha Peterson, Hillsdale.

Members from the Intermediate Board of Education are: Dean Jennings, North Adams; George Clark, Pittsford and Ralph Bach, Hillsdale. The judge of the probate court also appointed five members to the committee: Bernard Davis, Hillsdale; Vivian Mull, Camden; Ross Baker, Jonesville; Harold Arbogast, North Adams; and John Morrison, Waldron. The new law also requires that five members to the study committee be appointed from those school districts not offering 12 years of schooling. In Hillsdale County the only district that falls into this category is Adams District No. 7.

Committee members from that district are: Burt Girdham, Robert Lemkde, Thomas Girdham, Clifford Burgess and Wallace Houtz. However, Adams District No. 7 is a school district in name only. It is not ope rating a school this year and a move is already underway, at the request of residents in the district, for the Hillsdale Community Schools to annex the district. When the annexation becomes effective the Adams district will cease to exist and the members to the study committee appointed from that district will be dropped from the committee.

The study to be made by the committee is expected to take considerable time and cannot get underway until directions are received from the State Department of Public Instruction.
