Accidents Plague County Area This weekend found Hillsdale County Police Agencies keeping busy with a variety of accidents. The Hillsdale City Police investigated a mishap which occurred at 6:04 p.m. Saturday and resulted in serious injury to Darrell Hoover, 19, of 58 Rippon Ave. Hoover was reportedly driving his motorcycle along Water Works Avenue and lost control of the vehicle while on the railroad tracks. He was taken to the Hillsdale Community Health Center by ambulance and was later transferred to Foote Memorial Hospital, Jackson, for further treatment.

At 1:25 a.m. Sunday, James Edward Ross, 20, of 1067 Waldron Road, Somerset Center, was arrested on charges of being drunk and disorderly, in connection with a property damage accident on Baker Road, south of Montview Drive. According to Michigan State Police of the Jonesville Post, who made the arrest, Ross was northbound on Baker Road when he lost control of his car and ran off the east side of the road, hitting a telephone pole and driveway post. His car was towed away and he was booked into the county jail. He is free on $100 bond.

At 9:45 p.m. Sunday, state police investigated a hit and run accident which occurred on US-12 west of Thompson Road. A vehicle driven by Joseph Mitchell, 62, of 609 East State Coldwater, was westbound on US- 12 when an eastbound car swerved over the center line and struck his vehicle in the rear. The eastbound car failed to stop. No injuries were reported, and no summonses issued.

Another vehicle, driver reportedly swerved to miss a dog in the road, ended up striking a tree off the roadway. According to state police reports, Larry W. Shelby, 21, of 5737 Glasgow Road, Sylvania, Ohio, was eastbound on Territorial Road a half mile west of Hillsdale Road at 9 p.m. Sunday when the incident occurred. He reported minor injuries for which he sought his own treatment. Another accident involving two juveniles was investigated by state police at 6:30 pjn. Saturday, day. A 13-year-old boy was riding his mini-bike down Addison Road east of Wheatland Road and reportedly slowed down for a friend who was flagging him down. A vehicle traveling behind him, driven by a 16-year-old juvenile was unable to stop in time, and hit the bike in the rear.

The younger boy was treated for injuries, but the driver of the car was unhurt. Mrs. Harvey Dies At 79 Mrs. Laura May Harvey, 79, of Farmington Hills, died Saturday in the Wayne County General Hospital. She was the mother of Mrs.

Frank (Sylvia) Leutheuser of Hillsdale. She was born in London, Ontario, Canada Nov. 9, 1894, the daughter of John and Laura Butson Lancaster. Shp was a nf several Senior Citizen organizations, and the Nardin Park United Methodist Church. Her husband, John Harvey, preceded her in death.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Frank (Sylvia Mae) Leutheuser of Hillsdale, Mrs. Rpmard Fipalrin Sault Ste. Marie and Mrs. Jack (Minervia) Holland of Walled Lake; one sister, Fannie Ballan and six grandchildren.

The funeral service will be Wednesday afternoon at 1 in the Nardin Park United Methodist Church. Dr. William Mercer will officiate, and burial will be in the Grandlawn Cemetery in Detroit. The Richardson, Bird Lynch Funeral Home of Walled Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Pittsford Mr.

and Mrs. Bumus Page have taken off for Fairbanks, Alaska, where he will hunt and fish while they visit their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William Page and daughter, Mary. They will be gone two months.

Pam Deal of Roselle Park, N.J., has been visiting her parents, the Charles Deals. She will return for another visit in August. Mr. and Mrs. Harmon Grice and granddaughter, Markell, of Montpelier, Ohio were guests of Mrs.

Sinks of rural Hudson, a deputy with the Lenawee County Sheriff Department, has been promoted to sargeant and assigned as a shift commander of the uniformed division.

His promotion was one of four announced this week by Sheriff Richard Germond. The Vietnam War was the longest in U.S. history, dating back officially to Jan. 1, 1961. Sixteen criminal cases involving 13 persons are on the agenda of the July term, Hillsdale Circuit Court.

Five of the 17 civil cases listed in the calendar for jury trial involve auto negligence. Almost half of the 45 non-jury contested civil cases are divorces and four are auto negligence. There are 29 uncontested civil cases, 24 of them divorces. This brings the total number of cases on the July calendar to 107. In addition, Presiding Judge Kenneth G.

Prettie has listed five earlier no-progress cases. Four of these are divorces, bringing to 49 the number of divorce cases currently in court. Two of those facing criminal charges are involved in two cases. Randy David Beach is accused of possession of controlled substance in two instances. Randy Button faces charges of both arson and breaking entering.

The long-standing Thomas M. Kimmel trial on charge of murder still tops the court calendar. There are two other breaking and entering cases, an extradition case, a carrying concealed weapon case, three other drug cases, an unarmed robbery, and an assault on a police officer case. Police Check Two Larcenies Two larcenies were reported to the Michigan State Police of the Jonesville Post. Herbert Green of Belleville, reported a black leather suitcase stolen from the cab of his truck.

The incident, reported at 2:30 a.m. Sunday, is under investigation. The suitcase, a 16 by 20 inch soft case, contained a radio, shaver and personal clothing. Also reported was a theft of two whitewall, 825 by 15 tires from the garage of Dale Jacoby of 208 Ridge Drive, Reading. The theft was reported at 6 p.m.

Sunday and remains under investigation. One Booked Into Jail Rodney Dale Bellman, 28, of 315 Main Pittsford, was booked into the Hillsdale County jail at 3:45 a.m. Saturday for being drunk and disorderly in a public place. He was picked up in front of the Lost Nation Bar by Michigan State Police of the Jonesville Post. Bellman is free on $100 bond.

Beatrice Harwood, 78, of 9 Barry Hillsdale, died Sunday morning in the Hillsdale Community Health Center. She was bom in Otsego Feb. 18, 1896, the daughter of Dr. L. E.

and Sarah Shipley Clark. She was graduated from Otsego High School and attended Kalamazoo College. She lived the majority of her life in Hillsdale and was a member of the Hillsdale First Presbyterian Church where she was a member of the Association and was president of the Society. On Sept. 7, 1918, she married Dwight B.

Harwood. He died in August, 1965. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Warren (Mary) Foster of Washington, D.C. and Mrs.

Walter (Ann) Williams of Detroit; one son, Jack of Fenton; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother. The funeral service will be Tuesday afternoon at 2 in the Van Horn-Eagle Funeral Home, Hillsdale, with burial in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsdale.
