Teams that have been entered to date include the Huntingburg Jaycees, Ferdinand Jaycees, Jasper Panthers, Jasper Laundry, Otwell. Stendal, Holland Custard and St.

Henry. Another meeting will be held next Thursday, December 15, and all managers are to turn in their rosters at that time, along with their entry fee. Big Ten Officials Okeh Track Meets CHICAGO UPD Big Ten athletic directors Friday approved the assignment of three track meets for 1962 and three conference meets for 1961. The cross-country next Nov. 17 will be held in Washington Park in Chicago.

SLEDS and TRIKES at POPULAR PRICES Benny Paret Defends Welter Crown Tonight By JACK CUDDY United Press International NEW YORK fUPI) Aggressive Benny (Kid) Paret of Cuba makes his first welterweight title defense tonight in a return fight with Federico Thompson, slugger who is getting his first shot at the crown. Their 15-round bout at Madison Square Garden will be televised nationally by ABC at 10 p.m. EST with no local blackout. Before Paret became champion, they fought to a 12-round draw at the Garden March 25.

Apparently, memories of that draw have influenced the betting, which today is at Stocky, rapid-fire Paret, 23, won the 147-pound crown on a unanimous decision over Don Jordan of Los Angeles at Las Vegas, Nev. on May. 27. Paret got the Jordan shot on the toss of a com with Thompson after their March draw. Cuban Benny and rangy, explosive Thompson be 33 on Dec.

19 were originally slated for their title fight on Oct. 15; but tonsillectomy caused a postponement to tonight. Matchmaker Teddy Brenner expects 6,000 spectators and $25,000 for the first welterweight title fight in more than nine years. Women will be admitted free to a title bout for the first time with their 30 cents tax being paid by their escorts. The television money is $50,000.

Lack of a local blackout curtails the crowd drastically. Paret gets 40 per cent of all net receipts, and his purse is expected to approximate $28,000. 20 per cent should approximate $14,000 Slugger Federico, bom in Panama but an Argentine citizen for the past nine years, is unbeaten in his last 32 bouts. They included two draws Thompson is a dangerous hitter particularly with the left hook he registered 53 knockouts while winning 100 of his 116 starts. But champion Paret, although a comparatively light puncher, has plenty of speed and ruggedness.

He is particularly effective at close quarters. But he has to be careful of long- armed bombs as he moves in, although Benny never was stopped his 42 fights. Open Every Night Till Christmas The Modern iiliillllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllUIIIIIIIIIMlfi Seaton Hall Tops Bearcats With 2nd Half Rally By MARTIN LADFR United Press International The myth that Cincinnati could put together another basketball powerhouse without its Big is finally being shattered. The Bearcats, who had illusions of continued grandeur following three straight victories this season, succumbed to an unheralded but spirited Seton Hall five, 84-76, Friday night. It seemed to mark the beginning of a leveling-out period for Cincinnati, which had basked in the national spotlight for the last three seasons under the guidance of its favorite son, Oscar Robertson. The eighth-ranked Bearcats started strong before a crowd of better than 14.000 at M.adison Square Garden and held a 37-34 lead at halftime. But Art Hicks, Hank Gunter and A1 Senavitis got hot for the Pirates and within five minutes of the second half Seton Hall was out in front, 49-48.

incy Couldn't Catch Up Bob Wiesenhahn, who is expectec to pick up much of the slack created by the loss of Robertson, scored a basket to regain the lead for Cincinnati, but he fouled out of the game on the next play and Seton Hall had little trouble in building an insurmountable 10-point leac with four minutes remaining. Hicks and Wiesenhahn tied foi scoring honors with 22 points each In the opening game of the pleheader at the Garden, 10th- ranked St. scored a 66-54 victory over fourth-ranked Kansas and in the second contest Lafayette out pointed Manhattan, 64-59. In other leading games, Duke whipped Penn State, 69-46, Georgia Tech squeezed past Southern Methodist, 67-64, West Virginia overcame Wake Forest, 80-73, Utah wal loped Baylor, 83-69, Oklahoma edged Brigham Young, 60-56, UCLA defeated Kansas State, 83-73, and Southern California trounced New York University, 86-68.
