Split Awards In Canned Goods Two ladies ran a neck and neck race with their first rize awards with canned goods at the Hillsdale Fair. Alice Edinger of Hillsdale and Mrs. Chewier Housewerth of Rives Junction each won 16 firsts with their canned fruits, vegetables and meats. Mrs. R.

Sweig of Saginaw was awarded 12; Mrs. Areletta Lovejoy of Middlebury, seven; Mrs. Carl Rehklaw of Camden, six; Mrs. Ferris Fester of Rives Junction, two; and Mrs. Kenneth McMurtrie of Jackson and Mrs.

Burt Lehman of Pioneer, Omo, one first each. Mrs. Rehklau won three firsts in displays with her marmalade, dried fruits and apple products. Mrs. Edinger won two in displays as did Mrs.

Sweig and Mrs. Faster. Mrs. Love joy and Veia Fox of Jackson each won two firsts. In the juvenile division of canned goods, young Miss Josephine Taylor of Rives Junction was the undisputed champ with a whopping 22 firsts.

She also won three firsts with her displays. Jean Foster of Rives Junction and Ginger Nagy of Huntington Woods each won five firsts with their canned foods. Miss Nagy also won one with her display of pickles. Martha Fellabaum of Reading won a first with her display of jellies. Special Conclave Eureka Commandery No.

She Personals Mrs. Clarence (Ellen) Clary is visiting close friends in Cleveland, Ohio. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Schnitzer of Ann Arbor called on Hillsdale friends.

Estell Heads MSU Service Richard D. Estell, formerly of Hillsdale, has been named man. ager of radio broadcasting for Michigan State University. His appointment was approved by the MSU board of trustees. Estell succeeds Dr.

Lawrence T. Frymire who resigned to become chief of the educational division of the Federal Communications Commission in Washington, D.C. In his new post Estell will have charge of all broadcast functions of the radio stations WKAR and WKAR-FM. Born in Hillsdale, Estell is a 1957 gradutte of MSU.
