Our People Make Us Number One JEWfLERS Lewis Scores State Board Fcr Tax Cut Sen. Frank Lewis of Bellevue criticized the State Board of Equalization Saturday during a talk to some 150 persons attending a workshop on human services legislation. Lewis departed from prepared remarks on taxes and social services legislation to criticize the board's action in lowering the state income tax rate from 13 to 11. "It's not prudent to have these people setting taxes. If the Legislature is going to appropriate funds, then it should set taxes," Lewis said.

Lewis said he is in favor of establishing a statewide system for mental health care. But, he said, he wants it to be state-funded and not have to depend on local funding. fifuni Show High TwiMafatimi Euwterf for Du1n Sunday Nebraska Forecast: Cloudy and cooler Sunday and Sunday night.
