2 THE HILLSDALE DAILY NEWS, Wednesday, August 21, 1963 Couple Injured In 5 Area Accidents Herbert and Thelma Marshall of Horton were injured Tuesday Jn an accident at the intersection of M-34 and Bird Lake Road. Both were treated at the Hillsdale Community Health and released. Both miffered contusions and abrasions. State Police of the Jonesville Post reported that the accident occurred when the Marshall vehicle struck an auto operated by Althea Walton of Osseo. which was making a left hand turn onto Bird Lake Road.

Marshall was cited for traveling too fast for conditions. State Police are investigating an accident on M-49 involving the Hillsdale High School driver education vehicle, which was struck from the rear by an auto bearing Ohio license State Police said the driver education vehicle was traveling about 35 miles per hour when struck. State Police said the driver of the Ohio auto did not identfy himself, and left the scene of the accident. No one was injured. Miss Lawrence was born Oct. 21. 1887, in Hudson Township, the daughter of Gilbert B. and Fannie E. Belle Lawrence.

She had lived her entire life in the home in which she was born. She was a member of the Medina Methodist Church. Surviving are three sisters. Mrs. Bertha Morse of Hudson.

Mrs. Ruth Antuna of Highland Park, and Miss Dorothy Lawrence of Hudson; and two brothers, William H. of Addison and Lorenzo of Hudson. Funeral services will be Saturday afternoon at 2 from the Eagle Funeral Home in Hudson, the Rev Carfon Foltz officiating. Burial will be in Medina Ceme- terv.

LITCHFIELD The teaching staff for the Litchfield Community Schools for the 1963-64 school year is now7 complete. Teachers new to the system are: Mrs. Rachel Huffman will teach kindergarten. She is a graduate of Bowling Green State University in Ohio. Her previous teaching experience include? rural schools and special education classes in Albion.

Mrs. Betty Fast, of Jonesville. will teach one section of the third grade. Mrs. Fast is a 1962 graduate of Eastern Michigan University and will be teaching for the first time.

The Rev. and Mrs. Jerry Sisson will teach half time in the seventh grade. They are both graduates of William I Jenning Bryan College in Tennessee, with additional work at Eastern Miohignn University. Mrs.

Sisson has one year of teaching experience and Mr. Sisson taught two years in Tennessee. Cable Edwards will teach high school science. Mr. did I his undergraduate work at Wisconsin State College and earned a master's degree at the University of North Dakota.

He has 12 years teaching experience. Mrs. Mary Ann Devenney will teach business education subjects and French. She is a graduate of Alma College with additional work at the University of Michigan. She has 4H years teaching experience.

Former Pioneer Resident Passes In Detroit At 80 PIONEER Friends have re! ceived of the death of Mrs. Claude Omey, 80, Monday in De! troit. She was a former Pioneer resident. She is survived by her husband. Claude, and six children.

Funeral services will be Friday at 2 m. at the Nixon Mortuary in Lincoln Park, near Detroit. Miss Charlotte Webster will teach business education subjects and speech. She is a 1963 graduate of Western Michigan University. Miss Webster is presently in France as an International Farm Youth Exchange delegate and will not begin her teaching duties until November.

Miss Mary Lou Griffiths, a 1963 graduate of Michigan State University, will teach Miss classes until her return. William Mellon, of Pittsford. will teach English and social studies, Mr. Mellon is a graduate of Hillsdale College and taught last year at Caseville. Mrs.

Yvette McDonald will teach high school mathematics. She attended Hillsdale College and will be teaching for the first time. David Van Pelt, of Bronson, will teach instrumental and vocsl music. He is a 1963 graduate of Western Michigan University. Mrs.

Ina Wagner will teach the later elementary special education class. Mrs. Wagner graduated from Ball State Teachers College and has done work in Special Education at Eastern Michigan University. She has many years of teaching experience and taught last year in Reading. The Litchfield Community Schools open Sept.

The next meeting will be held at the church Sept. 1, at 6:30 p. m. 7 Chefs Hold Meeting The 7 Chefs met at the home of Gary and Fred Reppert where they made chicken and dumplings and baked custard. The next meeting of the group will be held at the home of Pat Barnhart, of Reading.
