The Havelock shops of thp Burlington Northern Railroad will be responsible for an estimated 1,450 of 3,950 rail cars tagged for heavy repairs in 1971. This, however, will not require additional hirings at the Lincoln yard as the program is set up on a stabilized work force basis, according to Shop Supt. Joe Nemeth. The shop Nemeth noted that the repair load does not represent much of an increase from the load for 1970 but differs in the type of cars being repaired.

The program will take the entire year. Those cars requiring heavy repairs will leave the shop "just like new," Nemeth said. An. additional 2,400 cars, mostly refrigerator and box cars, will be brought for general repairs and painting as needed, he added. According to Bill McKenzie of the Omaha public relations division of Burlington Nor-them, there is no way Lincoln's share of the $104.4 million in capital expenditures planned for next year can be figured.

The Busker's big-headed corn-shuckin' mascot has a real problem he wants to be a part of the Orange Bowl Parade New Year's Day but his head is too big to fit inside the plane on which he was supposed to fly to Miami. Don Shriner, long time Husker booster, who took charge of the Orange Bowl Float problem and also decided to head the committee to' get the head to Miami, is laughing with tears in his eyes because of his problem. "We have to face it. This may seem funny but it's not. The head will only fit on one kind of plane and that type of plane doesn't take cargo.

I've spent hours trying to figure out what we're going to do," Shriner said. Shriner thinks it's silly that Colorado had no trouble shipping its pregnant Buffalo mascot when Nebraska can't even get its "head" on the plane. Prisoners Get A Diviiion of the S. S. Fund. D. R. Remigio, manager of Goodyear' Lincoln plant, presented the initial payment of $5,000 to Scott Agnew, the council's executive director.

It is the first of three annual instalment payments to be made by the fund, a nonprofit corporation supported by Goodyear. Agnew said the money will be used by the council to develop Campsite 2 at the Cornhusker Scout Reservation at Humboldt. Improvements consist of a health shelter, a craft area and a campfire circle. Remigio said the grant was being made in memory of Richard H. Merrill, former scoutmaster of Lincoln's Troop 1, sponsored by Goodyear.
