SCORE Of Applicants For Maiager of Merchants and Manufacturers' Association.

A good deal of Interest Is being taken In the proposed enlargement of the facllltlea and work of the Merchants and Manufacturers' Association. This organisation has done much to bring buyers Into Cincinnati In the spring and fall seasons for over ten years, but It has recently been decided to enlarge the acope of tha association so as to operate more excursions Into the city and bring more people In, something on the order of the Mer chants Association of New York and similar organizations In Chicago and St. Louis. To this end, as has already been noted In Thi E.nquireh. it has been decided to secure new quarters, which will be In the Neave Building, on the ground floor, and a new man-will be hired, who will be in the offlce all tha time and look after nothing but the business of the association.

There have been several meetings of com mittees of the association with the representatives of the railroads and the matter if how the excursion business will be op erated haa been discussed at some length. Another matter that haa also been taken up with the railroads is the choice of a secretary or manager. Thlai Is the hard eat question that the association has to decide. there being at least a score of applications for the position, and a good many of the men coming veaj- highly reeommended. It Is the intention of securing a man who will work In harmony with the railroads and the members of the association, and the detre of the railroads will be largely consulted In the selection of this officer.

Other meetings will be held this week, and It Is expected that the manager will be selected and the form of bringing excursions Into Cincinnati determined upon. DAILY FASHION HINT FBOM PAEI8. Its pronwtor, Is looking about for a arte on which to erectt another building of Its kind. Mr. Artec says that he Is already assured of a rental of $42,000 annually from the Eighth and 8 yea more street buildings Fourteen Arms are to move Into It aa soon aa It la ready for occupancy. The present site coat the Power Plant Building Company, aa It la called, f.M.000, but the company must pay a perpetual groajnd rental of $22,000 a year. At th aye figures, however, and also taking Into consideration the ooat of tha building, an Income ot $42,000 from the rentals will reallxe a big profit on tha Investment.

As a site for the seoond building Mr. Alter has been endeavoring to purchase ine Banner Brewing Company's property at Canal and Wamtrt. faaruterlr tha location of the Fierier Preserving Company, but the Banner people, who are to move to Fair-mount and Increase the capacity of their brewery, want $120,000 for the Canal and Walnut street property. Thla Is understood to be considerably rraare than Mr. Alter cares to pay for ttve destred site, though It was pointed out to him by Mr.

Frederick Sa-ihmldt. who eneavored to close the deal, that In the Banner Brewing Cnmpiny'i property he ran grttlng a site covering naaarly twice aa much ground as the site at Eighth and Sycamcn-e. which practiceJly ot $107,000. Mr. Alter oould not be persuaded, however, to accept the property at Desiring a somewhat less coartly piece of property and one more oetitrally located, be is rooking about down town for something to suit him.
