has been approved by the Morgan County Commission The new ordinance will require a permit to build remodel repair or demolish any building except agricultural Permits are available from Hugh Barnes of Peterson county building inspector Applications for permits may be made to Mrs Marjorie Rogers Morgan County clerk and recorder Commissioners also reported the newly organized Morgan County Planning Board is currently working on zoning ordinances major street plans and subdivision ordinances aimed at establishing a master plan for county development Frank Bohman chairman of the planning board said public hearings will be held on the recommendations of the board when plans are completed He said all planning meetings are open to the public Clay Allred Ogden planning consultant has been working with the planning board Strong suggested that it would take $500000 to restore Saltair and the profits from operation should be reinvested The governor informed Strong that a proposed contract for the resort's restoration has been rejected by private industry Clyde said no one wants to put up a performance bond guaranteeing that work will be done "Why don't some of you people so glib get some hard cash and put up a bond Clyde told Strong at one point "The state is not opposed to renovation somebody has got to put up some hard cash" Secretary of State Lamont Toronto and Atty Gen Pratt Kesler other members of the board said they had reached no decision on the By Gerald Trapp SALT LAKE CITY CAP) The Utah Board of Examiners is keeping an open mind on the dispute over renovation or restoration of the rundown Saltair resort the world-renowned spa on the shores of the Great Salt Lake Gov George Clyde told a meeting Tuesday the disposal of the resort was a practical matter Clyde said facts must be used in determining whether money should be spent on the broken down structure that remains on the site of the once active resort Utah's chief executive also hinted at a- possible solution one that might also eliminate the resort and Black Rock and Sunset beaches two privately operated concerns The governor said the Utah Highway Department is studying plans for construction of a 26-mile stretch of interstate highway across the lake The road bed would be made of waste sand from Kennecott Copper Corp operations nearby Clyde said the roadbed would create a tremendous beach in the middle of the 28 per cent salt satu- $35 million construction program at the beaches but were postponing a start until they could determine whether the roadway was going across the lake The proposed road would take off from the present highway just at the Saltair resort The two beach resorts are south of Saltair Clyde strongly resisted suggestions that he appoint a citizens committee to investigate a solution for Saltair The suggestion came from two sources David Strong representing the Utah Junior Chamber of Commerce and Ora Barlow representing the Sons of the Utah Pioneers The governor maintained that there has been three years of investigations about Saltair all reaching the same conclusion: That it would be useless to restore the resort Barlow asked for an unbiased
