Louis Meyer, first 3-time 500 winner Associated Press Louis Meyer, the first three-time winner of the Indianapolis 500-Mile, originated one of the most enduring traditions at the Speedway, although it wasn't entirely his doing.

Meyer, who died Saturday at age 91, always found the buttermilk his mother made was thirst-quenching, and In 1933, when he won for the second I time, he made a beeiine for his garage, i Meyer, a longtime mechanic and engine-builder after ending his career as a driver, lived in Searchlight, and died Saturday night In a Las Vegas hospital. After his driving career ended, Meyer and a partner bought the Offen-hauser engine business in 1945, and Offenhauser-powered cars won every' Indianapolis 500 from 1947 to 1964. In 1964, Meyer sold his interest In the company to his partner so. he could become the distributor for the Ford Motor racing engine. years later, he turned the operation over to A.J.

Foyt, who moved the program to Houston. He is survived by a son, Louis Meyer and two daughters, Kay and Yvonne. His wife, June, died In 1989. THEODORE A. "TED" FEUCHT, 79.

Indianapolis, died Oct. 6. He was a mechanical engineer for Detroit Diesel Allison Division of General Motors Corp. for almost 15 years, retiring in 1979. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

He was a graduate of Purdue University. He was an Eagle Scout and a scout leader for many years. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, West-view Hospital, or Speedway Christian Church, of which he was a member. Services: 10:30 a.m. Oct.
