(WW). Every so often, in the cycle of gridiron events, venerable old Bill Alexander cornea up with a Georgia Tech team that is hard to live with and this seems to be one of those times. In fact, Georgia Tech this year is not only difficult but positively dangerous. Coach Alex's- last team to hit stratosphere levels waa the 1639 edition, a band of pigskin magicians which lost only two games a 14 to 17 decision to Notre Dame and a 6 to 7 affair to powerful Duke. The Engineers were invited that year to the Orange Bowl, where they football-finagled the University of Missouri Into fidgets to win 21 to 7.

Going Hot In 42. 1 This season Tech has gotten down to business with somewhat less where is it, and quite a bit more they want that way. With finesse comparable to a well wielded blackjack, Tech whipped Auburn, 15 to 0, in a driving rain; upset Notre Dame, 13 to cantered thru Chattanooga, 33 to won at a gallop over Davidson, 33 to 0, beat Navy, 21 to 0, defeated Duke, 28 to 7, and Saturday edged Btrong Alabama, 7 to 0. Tech's strength this season has been in spectacular backfield material, plus a surprising line which shook off-pre-season rating as "sub-normal" and out-charged Its opponents with devastating power. Not the least of tho line effectiveness is a 170 pound junior center George "Mutt" Manning, who baa Intercepted from three to four rorwara passes in almost every game ana DacKea up the line like a bottle-stopper.

CapL Jack Marshall and towering Jack Helms, a converted tackle, have been equally effective at the ends. Offensively and defensively, Tech's ba'ckfielders are deadly. Eddie Prokop, highly publicised running and passing star, is one of the sophomore standouts of the nation, and his pass-pitching has contributed to every Tech victory, When Alexander wants to cross up nis opposition, he sends in an equally spectacular freshman, Clint Castleberry, who throws the ball left-handed, -and runs like a scared lackrabbit. Only 150 pounds tn weight, he nevertheless is one of the hardest men on the squad toaftop, and as safety man on de fense ia rated by his coaches as the greatest punt-handler ever to play for Tech.
