Sutter talking Ice coach looks for promotion By DICK DENNY The Indianapolis Newt Darryl Sutter, who coached the Ice to the International Hockey League championship this season, flew from Edmonton to Chicago today to meet with officials of the Blackhawks about his future with the National Hockey League team. "Darryl is going to discuss whether he might join the Black-hawks in some coaching position," said Ray Compton, president of the Ice which is the top affiliate of Chicago. "I talked to Darryl last week and we would love to see him join the Blackhawks. He has a soft spot for this city and said he would do everything he could to help the Ice." Sutter said the day after the Ice captured the Turner Cup on May 14 that it was 99 percent certain he would not return to Indianapolis as coach and added he had been offered a promotion with the Blackhawks.

He couldn't say what position the Blackhawks were talking about. Mike Keenan has been the Chicago coach the last two seasons. Sutter indicated he would be open to coaching offers from other NHL teams. Jim DeMarla. the Blackhawks' director of public relations, said today that William Wrtz, president of the NHL team for which Sutter played eight seasons, "has made it clear he wfruld like to keep Darryl in the organization." i Sutter was at the family hme in Viking, Alberta, the last week helping with farm chores.

Romy Cucjen hit a three-run homer and added a sacrifice fly Monday night as the Indianapolis Indians held on to beat the Scranton-Wllkes-Barre Red Barons, 8-7, in Triple A Alliance baseball. Cucjen 's homer capped a five-run first Inning. After the Red Barons closed within 5-3. Cucjen had the second of three straight singles that gave the Indians another run in the fourth.

The Red Barons again rallied, scoring four runs in the sixth, including three on a homer by Steve Stanicek.
