Another generation of Indianapolis young people will have the opportunity to frolic at Riverside Amusement Park, according to the park's owner, Meyer Cohen. Cohen plans to reopen the park on a smaller scale next spring.

Big rides like the roller coaster won't be offered, but there will be about 15 major rides like the ferris wheel and merry-go-round. The" New Riverside Amusement Park also will have kiddie rides, games, concessions and possibly a miniature golf course. The park will use about half as much land as the old one, Cohen said: Several of the dilapidated structures already have been torn down, but demolition was halted by health investigators who needed soil samples from the park to test for histoplasmosis fungus. Cohen said he has received the go-ahead to renew demolition efforts and will have the remaining rides down in about 10 days- Cohen said it will take most of the summer to clear the area and reland-scape. He also will install new rest-rooms, water lines and lights at a cost i To defray expenses, Cohen plans to lease independent operators' rides instead of buying his own.

Patrons will pay on a per-ride basis when the park first reopens in April. A general admission will not be charged until the park is fully developed, he said. Cohen said Indianapolis wants and needs this type of family entertainment. Since demolition of the old facilities was announced last fall, he has received thousands of letters and calls supporting the idea of an amusement park here. Cohen believes the gamble will pay off because the city's million residents now must travel to another city or wait for the State Fair if they want amusement park activities, he said.

Reopening was Cohen's intention when he purchased the park three years ago. He said the exorbitant demolition price persuaded him to resell the park instead, until he found a less expensive demolition crew. Cohen has found homes for many bits and pieces of the old equipment, prized for their antiquity or sentimental value. The merry-go-round ponies were sold by a previous owner, but Cohen donated cars from other rides to the Children's Museum and the Channel 20 auction. "We don't want to haul away to the dump anything that could be put to good use." Cohen said.

And Prosecutor Stephen Goldsmith, while not happy, conceded $50,000 was better than $25,000. Dishman is one of three men charged with participation in drug trafficking here and in Florida. His bond originally was set at $250,000, but after a bond reduction hearing Commissioner Ralph May lowered it to $25,000. This activity was in Criminal Court 3. When Judge Charles Daugherty, technically May's "boss," heard of the reduction, he ordered Dishman brought in for another hearing and at its conclusion restored the bond to $250,000.

Yesterday, Dishman and his attorney Ferd Samper Jr. appeared before Tranberg who, after another bond reduction hearing, cut the suspect's bond to $50,000. The other two suspects, Jerry Lee Monday, 36, and Steven L. Griffith, 30, already were free on bonds of $50,000. AVENUE 1 Lg effic, util pd.

H200. 633- Mrs. McCarty also announced that Federal Judge James Noland sentenced John Lasher to an executed prison term of six months after Lasher pleaded guilty to drug charges in Terre Haute yesterday. Lasher entered a guilty plea to one count of a four-count indictment charging him with possession of 258 grams of marijuana resin. As part of the sentencing, Noland ruled that Lasher would be placed on probation for 30 months and on special parole for two years after serving his prison term.

The maximum possible prison term for the penalty was five years. A Federal grand jury indictment charging a 22-year-old Indiana University student with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute was unsealed yesterday. U.S. Atty. Virginia Dill McCarty said the nine-count indictment was returned against Michael Verrusio, 22, of Highland, on May 22.

The indictment alleged he possessed 663 grams of cocaine as well as other controlled substances dur-ing 1978 in Indianapolis and Bloomington. If convicted, Verrusio faces a maximum potential prison term of 15 years and a fine of up to $25,000.
