George Engelking Services for George Engelking, 69, Indianapolis, will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in Conkle Speedway Funeral Home, where friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Monday. He died Thursday in Wishard Hospital. He was a truck driver for Transport Motor Express 35 years, retiring in 1975.

He was a member of Teamsters Scientist at Fort Lauderdale and Mother Church in Boston. Leppert Copeland Mortuary is handling arrangements. There will be no calling. Memorial contributions may be made to the Indianapolis Museum of Art Survivor son William. Claude Shafer Rites Tuesday Services for Claude Shafer, 85, Indianapolis, will be at 1 p.m.

Tuesday in Conkle Lynhurst Funeral Home, where friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Monday. Shafer died Thursday in Methodist Hospital. He worked in the recoil department at J.D. Adams now Wes-tinghouse Air Brake 23 years.

He retired in 1945. Shafer was a smoke balloonist and parachutist and raised $10,000 in war bonds in a ballooning event during World War II. Survivors wife Iola. Raymond Wann, 70, Wingate, died yesterday in St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis. He was a veterinarian here until 1965 when he became a meat inspector in Indiana and Illinois for the U. S. Department of Agriculture.

A graduate of Kansas State University, Wann was an Army veteran of World War II and was a member of the American Legion. He also was a member of Indiana and American veterinary medical associations, Win-gate Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Thomas Funeral Home, Wayne-town, were friends may call after 3 p.m. tomorrow.

(UPI) -James Tate, mayor of Philadelphia from 1962 to 1972, died last night in Shore Memorial Hospital, a hospital spokesman said. He was 73. A native of Philadelphia, Tate began his public career in the Pennsylvania Legislature, serving three terms in the General Assembly dur ing the 1940s. He was elected to Philadelphia's City Council in 1951 and served as council president during the first years of Philadelphia's Home Rule Charter, which strengthened the power of the council.

Tate became mayor in February 1962, automatically succeeding Richardson Dilworth who resigned to run for governor. In 1968, Tate was elected president of the National League of Cities and in 1971, became president of the United States Conference of Mayors. Dalbert Lewis Special to Tht News MONROVIA, Ind. Dalbert Lewis, 78, Monrovia, died today at his home. He retired in 1971 after a lifetime of farming.
