Then, she smiles provocatively and adds, "There are quite a few men in my life.

I'm not pining away." Heaven forbid! Who would dream of such a thing, particularly when you see her in a white pantsuit with a bare midriff. She is a willowy 5-feet-8 with dark brown sun-streaked hair and lovely large green eyes. The white outfit seems to accentuate her splendid tan, some of which she attained while making a movie in the Philippines. That's right, the Philippines. As one of the stars of "The Big Bird Cage," she was in Indianapolis for its premiere last night at the Lafayette Road, Shadeland and South 31 outdoor theaters.

"Yes, the movie was filmed in the Philippines, both for the location and for economy," Anitra explained, 'it was shot in nine weeks. There was a week's delay because of a shortage of bamboo (for the cages)." Speaking about the financial backing of the film, she remarked, "This picture was made on a match stick." (Incidentally, Indianapolis was chosen for the world premiere of the movie because its predecessor, "Women In Cages" did better at the box DOWNTOWN AT mi an actress in summer stock in the Midwest and her father was a jazz musician (alto sax). She said, "After I graduated from high school in 1966, 1 fell into modeling. That's about the only way to describe it. My first job was for Life magazine.

It was a fashion spread or. swimsuits, and I became so nervous thinking I was doing poorly that I broke out in hives. "When the photographer said near the end of the day, Anitra, we need you for the I thought he was kidding. I knew he was going to fire me and was letting me down easy." Anyway, Anitra didn't get fired. Instead, she wound up on the cover wearing a pink bathing suit and a pink hat.

Before long she was a high fashion photography model. Then came television com-m i a 1 television acting jobs and movies. She has appeared on TV in Love, American Style, Mannix, Columbo, Johnny Carson, etc. As for films, she was in "Where It Hurts" with Peter Sellers and "The Love Machine." About her latest picture, she says, "It was rough out there and rather primitive. You learned how to cope.

It was almost like being on an Indian reservation. If a water pipe broke in the hotel where you were staying, you went without water for a week. "Another thing that helped was that our director seemed to thrive on problems." Anitra would like to do another movie abroad, but in Europe this time.
