Safety Russell Gary was in and out of the lineup with a hip pointer. Linebacker Brent Williams also suffered a hip pointer. Defensive captain L.C Cole plaved and made 10 tackles despite a broken hand suffered in the Kansas State game. Defensive end Derrie Nelson limped off the field after rein-juring an ankle and monster Mark LeRoy also limped to the sidelines with a leg Injury with 1:38 remaining in the fourth quarter. "We have no excuses." middle guard Kerry Welnmaster said.

"We should have stopped Oklahoma and we didn't I guess that's football." "You can't point a finger at anyone or anything," Horn reasoned. "There's a cliche about winning together and losing together and that's the way it is." Barnett, who felt worse about the loss than he did missing practice Thursday with the flu, said "we'll have to wait and see how the coaches analyze the film." While they do, Barnett is slapping himself in the face with another cold, hard fact. "I guess Oklahoma wanted to beat us today worse than we wanted to beat them," he could call it just the reversal of last year." Morrison new NP park boss NORTH TLATTE Thomas B. Morrison will be the new superintendent at the Buffalo Bill State Historical Park here, effective Dec. 1.

Morrison's appointment was announced by Dale R. Bree, assistant director for parks for the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. With apologies lo Cablevision Channel 9 since it has become an agressive supporter of high school athletics in Lincoln with well done color television broadcasts of Lincoln prep football and basketball games, it may be lime lo analyze the affect of the crowds visiting Seacrest Field or Pershing Auditorium on a weekend. The general attendance figures over the past few years have shown a decline, and talking with most anyone on the street will tell you why. They seem just as content to sit in the warmth of their homes watching "living color" in comfort as braving the elements for a live view of their favorite high school teams.

It seems much too easy to push a button and settle back as opposed to grabbing a coat and hat and piling the kids in the car to go to Seacrest. It wasn't too many years ago that the Lincoln Fublic Schools would not allow radio broadcasts of the games for fear of hurting the crowds. Whatever the fee charged for the right to do the broadcasts, the lack of people in the stadium or gymnasium takes more away from the game than a television could add. Revise prep title sites Until the final figures are in, it's difficult to determine, but with a general feeling that attendance is on the slide for state high school playoffs also, it may be time to look again at an alternative for boosting the crowds at championship contests. Last week's Class A state championship at Omaha Westside is one example of why the Nebraska School Activities Association should explore the possibility of finding a suitable site to handle all six of the state championship games.

Lincoln Kast Coach Lee Zenlic was concerned because limited sealing, some 7,000 total, with a much smaller portion on the visitors side of the field, forced part of the Kast student body to the hill on the Warriors' side. If the situation could not have been avoided, it's unlikely it would have bothered the veteran coach but I'NO's 10,000 seat stadium was sitting empty at kickoff of the Class A game. There are both advantages and disadvantages to the single site system, but several states now use the format with tremendous success. It seems the cost advantages could outweigh the disadvantages of paying teams mileage to get to Lincoln's Memorial Stadium or Omaha's Al Caniglia Field at UNO especially if people flock to the stadium for the opportunity to see the best of six -classes in action. Other states successful Lincoln Southeast Coach Chuck Mizcrski recalls the Illinois format that sends all classes to the same site with the smallest class playing at 8 a.m.

and working up to the largest. By midafternoon, 50,000 people are in attendance. Saturday in St. Louis, Busch Stadium was alive with action during the Show Me Bowl, a classic bringing the best of Mis-. soun's prep football lo a single location.

Iowa has operated under a similar system for ever since the L'ni-dome was constructed at the University of Northern Iowa. Obviously Iowa's situation is a natural because the weather allows all the schools an opportunity to play under perfect conditions with a seating capacity of better than 10.000. The chances of ever having such a facility are sum, even with a plan on the drawing board that could bring a 20,000 seat arena to downtown Omaha as a part of a business complex, but using Nebraska or UNO could be the perfect answer for better crowds and a financial windfall depending on rental fees. If something couldn't be worked out with the state's two major universities for rental and open dates you could always cross the border to South Dakota where Vermillion's Dakota-Dome is offered to that state's schools for a mere $500 rental.
