On Friday, the bridge will be down to one lane as construction crews set up barriers and signage, representatives from KYTC said at a news conference Monday. Construction crews will be repav- ing the surface of the bridge and updating lighting and drainage. The 53-year-old bridge is the focus of countlessdiscussionson infrastructure. The bridge is structurally sound and viable for long-term use, KYTC said, but carries twice the traffic it was built to support.

Bob Yeager, chief district engineer for KYTC, said there is no estimate for how long the daily delays will be. Yeager stressed the need for people to check the project websiteevery day before leaving for the morning commute. Other ramps will see temporary closures during the process, which should last approximately two days. In Ohio, closures for the weekend of June 30 include: The ramp from I-75 north to U.S. 50 west.

The ramp from I-75 north to Fifth Street. The ramp from U.S. 50 east to I-75 South. in two of the four lanes on both decks around the clock will allow us to maintain reduced traffic on the bridge as maintenance work progresses and restore the full movement of traffic as quickly as we Yeager said. He said KYTC wants construction finished by Labor Day weekend.
