Two "boys elected to become members-;of the organization at that meeting are Tommy King of Caruthersville and Earl Coppage of Braggadocio. They will receive both their Initiatory and DeMolay degrees Tuesday night of next week at the temple. Among recent graduates "of Cafu- thersviUe High School attending Memphis State College are Sonny Unice, Joe Anders, and Tommy Lee Smith. The Girl Scouts will begin tneir annual autumn drive for funds in" Carutherville Oct. 5. A pep assembly will be held at the high school Friday afternoon in regard to Friday night's football game at Sikeston. State Gets Problem Of Dividing Reward CHARLESTON; s.c. (£») — The litizens and Southern. National Bank of South Carolina yesterday handed Gov. James F. Byrnes a $2,500 problem. " . The bank has a standing' offer of a $2,500 reward for the capture of bank robbers. Recently two robbers were caught but an estimated 150 persons took up. the chase soon after the robbery and captured the pair. The distribution of the money is now the state's problem. (Com* ler News Photos) Negro Doctors Okayed By Arkansas Hospital LITTLE ROCK (&)— Four Negro doctors have been recommended for staff membership at the Arkansas Baptist Hospital by the. hospital's Board of Trustees. Final decision of the recommendations will be made by the general staff of the hospital at a meeting Tuesday. Doctors asking for membership are: Dr. G. W. S. Ish, Dr, O. B. White, Dr. J. B. Woods, and Dr. J. M. Robinson, all of Little Rock. Bicycles were invented about 1790. Miners Repair Fire Damage CLARKSVILLE, Ark. (£>)—When fire destroyed a conveyor unit at the Sunshine Coal Co. mine near here "last week, 40 miners found themselves without jobs—but they oidn't remain idle long. • I The men asked the company to j 'let them repair the conveyor unit with their own tools. The company would furnish the materials. The company agreed. Stockholder , Hugh Ingram said the job would take about six weeks for completion by a normal contractor, but the industrious miners, working in shifts, will have completed repairs in a week. ; The miners will be back on their jobs Monday. A special addressograph machine enables the. U. S. government to roll out payrolls checks at the rate of 600 per hour.
