There is a picture of a giant computer with a sign in front of it that reads, THE BUCK STOPS HERE. I never said it was funny. The computer that inanimate, innocuous chunk of plastic, glass and beeps has become the dumping ground for every foul-up in our society today.

I've never checked in at an airline for a boarding pass that I didn't hear, "I'm sorry. YouH have to wait The computers are For eight months I've been getting notices from a hospital computer that threatens to put my bill in the hands of an attorney if I don't pay up. Then it covers itself with, "In the event you have already settled this account please send us a copy of your canceled check" which I've done five times. I was in a department store one afternoon when the computers went down. The store had to close because 500 drones were standing around with no buttons to push.

The computers have got us right where they want us. We are so dependent on their performance that we no longer know how to file, compute change, correct an address or use sense.
